Oh, maybe I've got the name wrong. I'm thinking of one of the fictional characters that used to appear in Mike Royko's newspaper column.

Okay... If you can get a good digital recording, you can use the program MP3Gain to boost the level to something reasonable if it's too soft. OK, I'll have a look - eventually :) I do recall that this goofy cable I bought had no way (or at least no way I could discern) to tell what was right and wh...

Oh, people *would* care; they'd say, "Those poor people", and maybe some humanitarian groups would band together and try to make a difference. But for the most part, the majority of the population would not push for great changes in the Status Quo; not like what happened after 9/11. I am ...

Split per Lance 's suggestion. First Question: Is the cable going to the computer plugged into a MIC jack or LINE jack? If MIC, please switch to LINE. I tried it both ways, although I probably changed more than one variable simultaneously. At the moment, I'm not set up to do this (house for sale, a ...

People die from preventable causes every day, in large quantities. Some deaths are more glamorous than others, and some lives have higher market value than others.

I don't know what you know, so... Unlike analog recording such as to tape, it is absolutely critical in digital recording never to go into the red. In analog it simply clips or compresses, but in digital it can't do that, so the artifacts are awful. In a way it is similar to entering too many digit...

Don't knock it. I bought my Kenwood hifi-set in 1984. The CD-player and everything else still works fine. And I prefer it black. My CD player from 1985 was lost in the flood :( But my cassette player from the 1980s still works. I have been trying to take some tapes, capture them to the computer, an...

Oil is their resource to sell. If they decide to stop selling oil, they stop having income. Boy, that would show us. right. but, at the same time, they could jack up the price and if we refused to buy it, they could get by and out last us. that is what I meant. Iran cannot simply jack up the price ...

Make your own gun now! (an article on how to make a $10 gun on Totse.com) This has to be the dumbest design I've ever seen in my life, and I'm not even a (true) guns expert. I mean, seriously; it doesn't fire a cartridge, it's just a miniature "flintlock wannabe" that can barely do any da...
