Re: President Donald J. Trump

Nobel Peace Prize Oh I love it. Trump announces he has been nominated for the prize by the Japanese. He neglects to announce that he ASKED them to. Nominations are supposed to be secret. Perhaps someone told him he was nominated, but he might need to use the NSA to determine whether he is being tol...

Re: Bill,, meet Billy

Mine doesn't reach the bottom of my neck, and is getting annoying. No stage for me. More or less how I feel. On three separate occasions, I went well past the point, “I was too busy to shave today”. And on three occasions, I could not have told you one hour before (much as Porforiy Petrovich told R...

Re: Rest in Peace: Mark Maley

Sorry to hear this :( There was a stretch a few years back, when knowing me and dying of cancer seemed to be strongly positively correlated. That is now in remission . . . It happens to all of us eventually, but sometimes it is much too soon :( And if the dam breaks open many years too soon, and if ...

Re: On this day in history...

It is absolutely appalling that I missed this one, but I absolutely must ask the biard’s indulgence to let me wind the clock back a few days. On February 3rd, 1959, the Day the Music Died, Buddy Holly, Ricky Valenzuela, the Big Bopper, and a pilot flying beyond his abilities, took a dive into a snow...

Wales triumphs over France, and Scotland over Italy. Ireland ahead of England at the moment, but it’s a long way to the end.

Re: I'll always remember jellyfish

Enzo wrote:How long have jellyfish been known for their memory?

Someone here went to the aquarium, and saw the jellyfish. He told me the sign said that jellyfish have been around for 400 million years, and have no brain. So it reminded him of the organisation where he works.

Fortitude

Watching the first episode of the third series right now, and one of the characters did the "these are small, those are far away" bit.

Lance wrote:The commercials I've seen suggest Gus Fring plays a major part of this season again. Is that accurate? Fring was always one of my favorite characters from BrBa.

Yes, the construction of the drug lab under the laundry is a major topic in series 4.

Re: Location, Location, Location

Come on, Arneb, you know which Bourne film was set in Berlin. Big scene in the Alexanderplatz. Later it moves to Moscow.

ETA - arg, I forgot, there are two Bournes with scenes in Berlin.

Nice try, but you’ve got a gender mismatch there. It would work better if it were “Die Another Night”.

Wow. Was that because the prospect of a second Bush term distressed you so much, or inspired you so much?

I think my last cigarette was quite a bit more recent than that, but my lifetime total is pretty low.

Robocop

So it's Saturday afternoon, and one of the film channels has this 32-year old rather odd film on. So I had a look at the Wikipedia page for it. The first sentence under "Plot" reads In a dystopian future Detroit, Michigan, is a struggling city on the verge of total collapse due to financia...

I think I had mostly cheap-ass equipment from Peavey. It is now in the possession of a friend from almost 40 years ago, with whom I still occasionally keep in contact.

Re: On this day in history...

According to the Gregorian calendar, it's been 129 years and 272 days since ol' Adolf was born. By the Julian calendar, it's only 129 years and 271 days.
