Re: Mosque shootings in New Zealand

About the same percentage of the NZ population killed as the American population killed on the 11 September attacks.

The suspect is Australian. So now New Zealand have to invade Australia. And maybe Brazil too, just for good measure.

Re: What sports teams do you support?

Scotland 11 - 18 Wales

Italy are already out, Scotland just joined them. France still have a tiny shred of hope, but this is looking like an England, Wales, and Ireland contest now.

Re: What sports teams do you support?

England has won some Six Nations recently.

At the moment, I’d give the best odds to Wales, followed by England, then Ireland. Italy cannot win. The next match (about 21 hours from now) is Wales v Scotland. Both France and Scotland could be eliminated if Wales win.

Re: What sports teams do you support?

Scotland must win tomorrow to stay alive in the Six Nations. And even if they do, it's still a bit of a long shot.

Re: Travel?

Never been there, and I'm not sure I've ever heard a casual conversation about it. I have seen "PEI" in print, which should not be confused with PIE, the Pan-Island Expressway.

England and Wales play tonight. I’d say the winner of this match has a good chance of winning the Six Nations.

First Astronaut from Scotland - sort of

https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-47336617

Made it to 89.9 km, which gets him astronaut wings by the US definition of space (50 miles), but not the international definition (100 km).

Re: Signs of the times

Enzo wrote:When I was in college, they had a rule: Sunday evening meal, we had to wear jacket and necktie. So naturally, various among us would wear exactly that: jacket and tie, but no shirt.

We did however wear pants.

Was the rule swiftly amended?

Re: President Donald J. Trump

Nobel Peace Prize Oh I love it. Trump announces he has been nominated for the prize by the Japanese. He neglects to announce that he ASKED them to. Nominations are supposed to be secret. Perhaps someone told him he was nominated, but he might need to use the NSA to determine whether he is being tol...

Re: Bill,, meet Billy

Mine doesn't reach the bottom of my neck, and is getting annoying. No stage for me. More or less how I feel. On three separate occasions, I went well past the point, “I was too busy to shave today”. And on three occasions, I could not have told you one hour before (much as Porforiy Petrovich told R...

Re: Rest in Peace: Mark Maley

Sorry to hear this :( There was a stretch a few years back, when knowing me and dying of cancer seemed to be strongly positively correlated. That is now in remission . . . Re: On this day in history...

It is absolutely appalling that I missed this one, but I absolutely must ask the biard’s indulgence to let me wind the clock back a few days. On February 3rd, 1959, the Day the Music Died, Buddy Holly, Ricky Valenzuela, the Big Bopper, and a pilot flying beyond his abilities, took a dive into a snow...

Re: I'll always remember jellyfish

Enzo wrote:How long have jellyfish been known for their memory?

Someone here went to the aquarium, and saw the jellyfish. He told me the sign said that jellyfish have been around for 400 million years, and have no brain. So it reminded him of the organisation where he works.

Watching the first episode of the third series right now, and one of the characters did the "these are small, those are far away" bit.
