Re: Happy St Andrew's Day

November 30th - the patron saint's day that nobody gives a shit about because it's not associated with mad hats and lots of drink. Indeed, it is a holiday for some but not us proles, even proles like me who complete their 56th trip around the sun today. Well congratulations on your successf...

Re: WW2 aftermath

Was watching some shows on the History Channel about WW2, and the treatment of Japanese-Americans at the time. Oddly enough there was no mention of the guy who was half black and half Japanese, and every December 7th, he attacks Pearl Bailey. Thank you, Thank you, I'll be back next year. You folks ...

The visa is normally a royal pain in the arse (for me as well!), so here’s an opportunity to avoid that unpleasantness.

Re: Brexit Delay

Looks like the DUP are scuppering any deal that links Norn Iron with the Republic rather than the rest of the UK. An entirely predictable consequence of the alliance between them and the Tories. If May hadn't called the general election she wouldn't have needed the DUP so they would have no influen...

Re: What sports teams do you support?

For a moment, let's go to the original question: What sports team do you support? Here's a tool to find out whom to support during the football World Cup, if your team isn't qualified (IIRC, mine is the only team going). It took a bit of fiddling before they allowed me to support Germany, but tell ...

Re: President Donald J. Trump

Holy crap! ABC is reporting that Flynn is prepared to testify that Trump ordered him to make contact with Russia! What I'm trying to understand is, is there some actual law that was broken? So far, I'm seeing things like, lying to the FBI. So I guess the FBI is investigating something, and someone ...

Re: President Donald J. Trump

If they get Pence and Trump realizes it's only matter of time for himself, I think he'd try to put someone in the V.P. spot who he thinks would burn it down the rest of the way out of spite. How does that one work? Could he pick anyone he wants, or does he need senate approval or anything like that?

Re: Rest in Peace: David Cassidy

I don't know if WBBM AM radio Saturday night still has it - they did in the 90s. I guess they could change their programming in 20 years, though.

Re: Manson dead

One of his people supposedly had something of a conversion in prison.

He lived this long because he was convicted a little before California's death penalty law was invalidated. The postman did not ring a second time.

Re: David Letterman

Letterman was an essential part of my days at the uni.

Like Trevor Noah some of the time. Liked John Oliver when he was on (he interviewed Snowden across from Lubyanka Square!). John Stewart was a little too shouty for me.
