*Sweeping generalisation alert* I think the Dutch are up there because they grow high value crops like flowers rather than arable crops. Most of the flowers sold in Scotland seem to come from Nederlands in refrigerated lorries. I suspect the same is true of France with high value crop areas like Cha...

As far as I know there has never been a tie.* The only minor stunt is that the number of US winners and the number of US wins is not the same. It is at the lower end of your scale. * I have a nagging feeling that Fausto Coppi's brother was involved in a tie in a race, but it might not have been the ...

Re: Happy Gagarin Day!

I also found a thread where someone is saying that the value of agricultural production in the Netherlands is higher than in any other country except the United States and France :?: I think this must be some per-acre figure, or something like that. But then, I wouldn't think the US and France woul...

Lower.

It was won by the man you are thinking of in 1993. It hasn't been won by a US rider since him.

The first US rider to win it was also the first US winner of the Tour de France.

A four point lead and five games to play, what can possibly go wrong . . . :D

A possible league decider at home in the final game against Augsburg? Nice. (Insert "League of Augsburg" joke here)

All you need is Fürth to get promoted with you.

There have been several US riders who were quite good, and a couple who still are.

Not five.

Happy Gagarin Day!

50 years ago today.

I don't know how they are celebrating this at BAUT, probably talking about the enduring economic benefits their space programme brought to the USSR , , ,

Google.

Is this to do with applying numbering to emperors known by family names? My knowledge gets a bit sketchy after the Comneni, but John Kantakouzenous was preceded and succeeded by John Palaiologos. John K is number VI and John P is number V.

As Mactep sdays, this isn't my area, either of law or geographically. Generally to successfully sue you would need to establish a direct link between the burning of the Quran and the deaths. There is probably a "foreseeability" test (or similar) but that will depend on the jurisdiction. I ...
