I was thinking along the same lines, KLA2 - I even wrote a post to that effect, but I erased it just before submitting because I realized that the 105 users were the most users at any one time, while the statistic you cite gives the cumulative number of users over the current day.

What do you mean by that? AFAIK the N. Korean military is anything but a carnival puppet show. Aren't the South Koreans pretty scared of them (with or without the Bomb)?

I really didn't want to downplay the importance of being curious and creative in the sciences. My point was that I am convinced that if something is real, better and better evidence of it will eventually be forthcoming, and it will make itself known. The UFO/ET stuff may have had some marginal credi...

Don't exaggerate. Being stuck at an East block border was/is an unpleasant experience, but there is a certain (as Mactep said) Kafkaesque orderliness about it. Mostly, it is just boring and unfreiendly. And entering the US as a furrne, lemme tell ya, can be quite unpleasant and kafkaesque, too.

I don't count myself in that number. WRT "extraordinary things", I am as cold a fish as can be. Reality has the uncanny knack of making itself known beyond belief.

I think the gift shop makes for great satirical gifts. My parents had friends who had a Soviet constitution hanging in the guests' restroom. I once read a travel report about North Korea in my preferred quality newspaper . The writer actually recommended to take the trip. Food was plentiful though n...

There was a case locally where... And let me add that the death penalty in the hands of a very faulty justice system like that in the US is a very, very loose cannon. It doesn't modify my being against the death penalty. It sure reinforces my notion that the US is performing terribly under par cult...

No acrid rebuttals from me. You see, a true tree-hugger hugs everyone who disagrees wih him, too. I am against the death penalty on principle (or is that "out of principle"?), and that needed saying. The particulars of any specific case are of no interest to that opinion; however, the case...
