I don't recall any bugs used in Fifth Element, outside of those parasites in the ship; but they seemed biological, not robotic/cyborg.

There was a cockroach (?) with an antenna mounted on it. What's-his-name (Zorg's underling, the one that was blown up for failing to get aboard the shuttle posing as Corben Dallas) was driving it around spying on the President. IIRC he found out about the Mondoshawan spaceship bringing the Fifth Element back to Earth, just before the President squished it with his shoe.

The Bad Guy's Number One Minion uses a roach which has an AV transmitter to spy on the single-worst-presidential-character-ever.

Oh, right, that thing. I forgot about that scene.

I still wonder why the feedback nearly deafened the minion. You'd think that with sci-fi material, they'd have a cut-off point for overly loud noises (or destroyed audio)

Humor. Movies like this don't try for actual science. I'm glad they don't since actual science would negate most of the reall cool things int he movie. The problem is that nobody has bothered renaming the genre to Science Fantasy instead of Science Fiction.

There is also a spy-roach in Fortress 2.
