December 21, 2012 - The End of the World

Postby Lance » Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:40 pm

As you can see, I replaced the Curiosity Rover count-down timer with a count-down to The End of the World on December 21, 2012. But I'm concerned with its accuracy.

Does anyone know when on 21 Dec, 2012 the end is scheduled to arrive? For the moment, I have it set for 00:00:00 UCT but that's just a guess.

I've added some poll options but if you think the end will come at a time I didn't include, please tell me and I'll add it to the poll. I didn't add an "Other" option. If you think I didn't have the right choices, tell me and I will add them.

Or if anyone actually has the definitave answer, let me know so I can reset the timer.

Thanks.

I voted for the progressive time zone option. Hardly seems fair that the world should end before the date for some folks. SO each zone gets it on time. Plus I want to see how a progressive destruction of the world would even occur.

And I have yet to see a good definition of just what "end of the world" actually means.

That was my second choice. Buys me an extra 6 hours.

I sure hope you're right.

Well, since GLP can't err, I guess they'll be honoured to get the end of the world around their midday.

I dunno ... I might decide to end your world the day before? What would you puny humans think about that? Kind of screws up your countdown, no?
Is there such a thing?

I suspect your non-votes are all the bots cruising the site all the time.

This reasoning seems logical. Besides, if the world is going to end at any particular time, then it'd better be a particular time.

Therefore I too have subscribed to the progressive world ending end of the political spectrum.

Well and I wondered about you specifically. WOuld you be one of the first to go or one of the last? And is being upside down a factor?

Among the group here, I'd say first. And then I'm second.

I'm beginning to like Noon UTC. If I've figured it correctly, it would be December 21st, 2012 all around the world at the same time.

My chiropractor thinks 12/21/2012 will just be the beginning of the end, with the Zombie Apocalypse finishing things off several months later.

I told him hes crazy. The Zombie Apocalypse is a completely unrelated event.

As long as they play the entire third season of The Walking Dead before the end of the world, I don't care. If they do that split season thing again, you'd better hope I go first or there's going to be a whole lot MORE trouble coming ...

I must confess, since they cancelled CSI Miami, the world has already ended for me.

I usually try and arrive early to events to avoid the queues.

I'm so sorry for you, Arneb. Surely the daily reruns can help ease the feelings of sorrow?

I appreciate the commiseration. Of course, reruns are only a minor consolation. To know that Lt. Caine will never have the opportunity to put Raquel Welsh into a dark hole ( =P~ ), is crushing.

Season 10, ep. 16: Raquel Welsh (still looking gorgeous at 70, with of course NO surgical help AT ALL, EVER) plays the grandmother of a mass murderer, herself having killed both her husband and her son for business purposes. Cain finds out, but she slips away just in time, mocking him over the phone from her airborne private jet. He swears to her that he will put her into a dark hole, to which she laughs in reply and has herself another exquisite cocktail.

I am sure she would have returned and caught by season 12, tops.
