Boeing delivers 1,500th 747 to Lufthansa.

It does seem like this particular flavour of aircraft is winding down, though, Lufthansa being one of the last airlines still buying them. But as the original sales projection for the 747 was 400 units, this product line exceeded its forecasts by quite a bit. Apparently Boeing expected supersonic aircraft to dominate passenger travel, making the 747 obsolete for that purpose, so that it would become primarily a cargo aircraft. Quite a few arses are still going numb while sitting in seats on 747 aircraft though.

Yup it always was a cargo plane. Cockpit is on the roof
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.
