Up close with the virus.

Postby Enzo » Thu May 28, 2020 10:29 am

So everywhere I see this image of the corona virus. It looks like a soccer ball with horns sticking out (Bugles, not cow horns) For all the world it looks like the pomander balls we made as kids. Stick whole cloves into an orange all over and let it dry.

So My query is this: Is that what COVID19 actually looks like? Or is that a generic virus logo that stands just to represent the thing?

No, the depiction is pretty close. The form is seen under the elctron microscope, and the circle with spikes jutting out form is what gave it the name Corona (crown-) virus.

But the pretty grey body and red spikes are inaccurate, right? I mean the colors. The size of the virus at 0.125nm makes it smaller than the wavelength of visible light so I don't see how it can have any color at all.

Ah HA! Which is why UV kills it! Sorry, that was just a lightbulb moment for me. 0.125nm is in the range of wavelengths for UV.

And that proves that all this corona virus stuff is a hoax, cuz how can they see a virus if the light they use destroys it?

Now you know that if someone hasn’t come up with this before, they’ll use this thread as proof for their latest wacko theory.
Is there such a thing?

If this weren't for a deadly virus, I'd poke the boss to bring it up on GLP and see how it runs.
