Jehovas Witness.

Is it okay to kill in the name of God? Can ethics, morals and technology peacefully co-exist?

Jehovas Witness.

The Jehovas Witness here in Sweden refuses blood transfusion(to their kid)because of religous conflict.

Kid died 1 month later.

Parents claimed "Gods will".

Sounds more like Satans will to me.

I've always wondered how they know that modern medicine isn't God's will; my mother tends to go on about God helping those who help themselves.

There have been a few court cases in the US of late that have over-ruled the parents and forced treatment on the children. I'm not sure I like that too much, either.

Poor kids...

Out of touch parents or out of control government. They can't win.

I heard of another case in which a mother started hemorrhaging following child birth and refused treatment. She ended up bleeding to death and leaving her child motherless. This isn't quite as bad as refusing treatment for the child, but its close.

I don't think that Jehovas Witnesses are against medicine just against blood transfusion.

They don't know who the blood came from so they don't want it in their bodys. It will make them unclean or something.

LOL yea, of all the "un's" I can think of, un-alive is one of the worse ones.

The J.W's no longer visit me.... I made it a sport, they intrude on my privicey to push their ideas on me, so I invite them in and get them to prove every statement. My best effort so far is 2 1/2 hours, they left in tears.
I just pointed out that if a drunk driver hit their daughter on the way home, and she was injured and in need of a blood transfusion, refusing it was murder in my eyes. (The daughter was in the room at the time)
What evil people would let their own child die when a simple and safe procedure could save her?
A hundred years ago their ideas made sense, we didn't know about blood typing etc. random transfusions are dangerous.... but now we can do it safely but they havn't changed their ideas.

my own great-grandmother died from receiving blood of the wrong Rh factor after childbirth. still, she would've died anyway, from blood loss, so meh. generally speaking, when you receive a transfusion, you'd die without it. the question, even with HIV-tainted blood, is if you want to die all at once or slowly.

I always felt sorry for Jehovah's Witness kids in school, though--they couldn't attend class holiday parties.

(another reason my mom's so cool: she says she'll listen to what they say when they can satisfactorily explain to her why, if the number of people who will attain Paradise is fixed--and already less than the current number of Jehovah's Witnesses--they keep recruiting, since, logically, you kinda gotta figure most of the new recruits are damned anyway.

I used to live next door to a couple of Witnesses. One of their kids had a hole in the heart. They refused to allow him to be operated on and it was heartbreaking to watch him go from a fairly normal 3 year old to a sickly 6 year old that was physically falling further and further behind kids his own age. I moved so I don't know what the final outcome was but I know a lot of irreversible damage had already been done.

I don't have any patience with Jehovas if they come knocking my door. It's a quick "Yeah, I'm O Rhesus Negative, on the blood donor fast response list. Now F/O! "

Tell the Jehovah's Witnesses that you are Mormon.

Tell the Mormon's that you are Jehovah's Witness.

In either case, they'll just say a prayer for you and leave you alone assuming you are beyond hope.

No, tell them that you will be holding a black mass next week, and ask if they have any virgins available! :D

There once was a true believer caught in a flood, but he managed to scramble to the roof of his house. There, he started praying as the waters continued to rise.

"God, please save me. I'm not ready to go yet," he breathed.

Shortly, a boat came along. "Come on, hop on board," the guy on the boat said.

"No," said the believer. "God will save me. You go rescue someone else."

So he returned to praying. The water continued to get higher, and another boat came along. He told the people in the boat the same thing, and they went on.

Finally, it was all he could do to stay on the roof, and a helicopter flew over. "Hang on!" the pilot said. "We'll lower a rope ladder, and you can climb up."

"No, no," the believer insisted. "God will save me!" And the helicopter eventually flew off.

In the end, the waters grew so high and so strong that the believer was swept away and drowned.

Being a believer, of course he went to heaven, and there he met God. "Lord," he said hesitantly, "I don't want to seem ungrateful, but I was praying the whole time for you to save me. Why didn't you?"

God looked at the believer with exasperation. "I sent you two boats and a helicopter - what more did you want?"
Everything I need to know I learned by Googling.

I have some relatives that are Jehova's witnesses. They do not receive blood because it represents the "soul". They mention that the christians were also told to abstain of blood. It is in some chapter of the bible.

I give blood. They are probably right. But now I cannot give blood because of malaria.
