http://www.jesuscampthemovie.com/ This is a popular movie about a small fundamentalist group in North Dakota.

Check out the Videos section; there are some VERY scary implications here. Of course, a lot of it seems to be sensationalized, and the veracity of it's claims are under question... such as the suggest that all evangelicals are like the ones portrayed here.

But still... HOW is this different than a nazi youth camp, or Islamic terrorist youth camps?

Anyway, there's an article on wikipedia about it.

People usually say that they agree in some way, and discuss over a small issue of the larger issue, even if they all agree. It's, like, natural law on web forums.

I almost responded, but decided it might be too harsh a thing to say. Having to do with a relative of mine having been turned into someone I don't even know anymore by following to the letter the written belief of a magic sky pixie. :x

My non-answer was becuase I have not seen the show, and therefore have no basis to comment. Clips don't represent a show very well as anyone who has ever been attracted to a movie by its trailer and then been disappointed can attest.

Cleary any claim that one example of something represents all of the group is specious. On the other hand, to claim that portraying an example is equivalent to implying the rest of them are the same is also specious.

Such as making a gangster Italian in a movie somehow implies we think ALL Italians are gangsters. It says no such thing.

That's a good point. Though I might add the clips were made by the designers of the show themselves, so it's unlikely that they were biased clips from another group; just the same group.

Because they're being taught to be "warriors for Christ". The primary reason this group in particular was being brainwashed was to counter the Islamic terrorists.

I dunno, maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like the only thing differing between the two is that the evangelicals in this particular group (I make no claim that all evangelicals are raised this way) haven't commited terrorist acts *yet*.

This may sound flippant, but I don't intend it to be. If you are worried about brainwashing, worry about the one-two punch of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity every day. This is six hours of non-stop propaganda listened to in places of work all over this land every day. You hear something enough you start to believe it. I am not so concerned that a handful of kids in a church school in the middle of nowhere are going to take over the world.

I bet in addition to taking over the world, they are also being trained for the return of Christ our lord and savior who is coming back SOON, VERY SOON.

And no, I would not like the radio onslaught any more if it were supporting left wing doctrine. I don't care for Randy Rhodes or (shudder) Lionel any more than the right wing assholes.
