The Flying Spaghetti Monster

Is it okay to kill in the name of God? Can ethics, morals and technology peacefully co-exist?

The Flying Spaghetti Monster

Flying Spaghetti Monsterism is a satirical parody religion created to protest the decision by the Kansas State Board of Education to allow intelligent design to be taught in science classes alongside evolution.

The "religion" has become an Internet phenomenon that has garnered many "followers" of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (sometimes referring to themselves as "Pastafarians," a pun on Rastafarians) who claim to have been touched by "His Noodly Appendage" and preach the word of their "noodly master" as the one true religion. Flying Spaghetti Monsterism is primarily the invention of Bobby Henderson, a graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in physics.

I love this, I love this, I LOVE THIS!

I am converted. I am a believer in the great FSM!

Carol Rupe, Kansas Board of Education wrote:We have received thousands of emails from scientists around the world. At first, they all tried to explain good science to us. After the vote last week, however, they have resorted to calling us hillbillies and morons. And those are the nice letters!

Just wait until teaching about the FSM is required in all schools in the land. When that happens, I will blame the two of you :D

Interesting, but (a) the members of the Kansas school board who responded seem to think it is a joke, and (b) there are a lot more than 17 pirates around.

I have been a devoted follower of the FSM for about 3 months now, it is good to see more people are coming to the truth of Pastafarianism.

Some of you may not know this, but I am a registered and ordained minister in the Universal Life Church. In fact, I hold have a doctorate from them and am a Spiritual Warrior.

The great thing about the ULC is that its non-demoninational. The only credo is "do what is right".

I have been casting about, looking for the universal truth. I have searched deep while writing my docturnal thesis and have come up short. Until now. The Flying Spaghetti Monster has shown me the light. He has reached out to me with His Great Noodly Appendage and taken me from the darkness.

I am His spiritual warrior now. Since His Greatness has shown me the path, I now know what is Right. Since FSM is Right, I can now preach His Rightness to the world and not break my vows to the ULC.

p.s.
I am authorized in California to performance weddings, funerals, and other services. email me for rates.

Did you join?

If you did, could you PM the admin and ask him to activate the account "Lance" for me? I never got the activation email.

No, I used the right address... I have many that I can use since I have my own domains and host my own mail servers.

As it turns out, one of my mail servers was hung. I just reset it and I'm getting a handfull of email that I had missed, that one included.

So, I did manage to activate my account. Thanks.

I think that it is pretty much just a protest.

There are real religions out there that the creationists wouldn't want being taught in schools so I guess that this FSM is just a joke.

I'm not an atheist but I did find the forum funny.

But there seem to be a lot of atheists there.

I don't know, maybe it's not such a good idea after all , a lot of people really do want to believe in something.

I think perhaps that I shouldnt have started this thread in the "religious" section it really belongs to the science one.

any way here is a good article

here

<snip>
Here is what is at stake. Without a better recognition by the scientists and technologists that they are leaving behind most of the populace, there will be ever-growing suspicion of motive and rejection of action. There will not be license of operate for business. There will be no support for new products. There will not be any understanding of the risk benefit equation.

You skeptics can say anything you want. I know your real motivation is merely to discredit religion. You fear the enternal truth. I, on the other hand, know enough not to be afraid of the Goodness that is He.

This is how I know that Nutrisionists are actually the product of Evil Incarnate. Notice how they are constantly attempting to force people away from refined carbohydrates. As His Goodness is nothing but Holy Refined Carbohydrates. Therfore, and ipso-facto, Sugar is Holy, dieting is evil.
