Happy Easter

Yes, the one day a year wives all over America haul their husbands off to church...

The day the Easter Bunny leaves baskets of candy and stuff for our children... and me.

Each year I look forward to the next day, when I rush gleefully to the store for bags of half price candy.

I am giddy with expectation.

Oh and salvation, of course...

Yes, we celebrate nailing a man to a tree for saying we should be nice to one another for a change. And chocolate.

Kids were guddy with excitement because Easter Bunny had found really mean ways to hide the goodies in the holiday appartment. Great work yesterday boiling and colouring 30 eggs. Oh, and the girl happily told us Jesus is alive again and everything's shiny.

I had to work on Friday morning, partly because I had to visit a client in the hospice to update his will. I told our staff where I was going and they sympathised, I agreed but said the worst part was that at this time of year you can't screw the lid down for three days just in case.

The youngsters were appalled, the devout catholic in her sixties roared with laughter . . .

Overheard:

"Hell of a way to spend Easter."

"Oh no, Beavers..."

Didn't 'get' that reference, but I thought of it when I saw this in the news today:

Cross is wood. Beavers gnaw through trees and fell them...

SO if one was up on a cross and saw beavers coming...

Ah. Maybe a good thing, from that perspective.

When I first wrote that, long ago, it was in the form of a cartoon, so it had the visual element.
