I don't know if Lawrence Welk gets to the rest of the world, but he is about the squeakiest of clean, ultra "family values", right wing sort.
Brewer and Shiply appreciated the irony in their song simultaeously being banned by the FCC at the behest of vice president Agnew and at the same time being performed on teh Welk show as a "gospel song".
