I must admit that my respect for Mr. Obama has severely waned for his soft-glove, make-no-inappropriate-remarks approach to what is happening in Iran. While it may be true that any word of criticism towards the current government coming form the US would automatically increase support for Ahmadinejad in the Muslim, I do think that upholding people's right to chose their leaders free from oppression and fraud would have been word that risk.

Maybe he'll invade. After all, he's got all those guys right next door, who will have nothing to do after next Tuesday . . .

Perhaps President Obama is a lurker, because he seems to have reacted to this criticism:

I love it the way the media personifies his "strongly condemned" comments, as if anyone who is anyone really gives a flying rats ass at this point, everyone knows he's soft as spray on butter. The manner in which one reacts says what he thinks, his manner says he's scared to even move. Either tell them whats going on is perfectly fine or make some apparent intention of doing something about it, and stop this smack on the wrist, pat on the back bullshit. "Now now, you stop that!" isn't intimidating the kids on the block anymore.

"Obama condemns Unjust Violence"...what a novel headline. #-o

So far, I haven't seen him react to this latest criticism.

Dragon Star - Scared? Really?

How do you think he should proceed? We can talk louder, we can talk longer. Tell them no one will buy their oil? Hah! Or should we send in tanks? Even George Bush wasn't THAT stupid.

I don't think much will intimidate the Iranian madman.

This was mostly for domestic consumption.
Diplomatically it is useless.

What ever the American president says is ammunition for the hardliners.

At least in this case, the protesters can't complain that the government is an American puppet :)

These guys seem much less impressed with Obama than Dragon Star is (although they are talking about health care, not Iran).

Then we lose, and simply fail as a world benchmark. Playing mental manipulation doesn't work in these situations, it backfires. Obama seems to think it's the key.

As for Obama being Hitler, that's just absurd. He's way too good looking. :P

Seriously then, what would you want the president to do here? I'm not trying to be obnoxious (that happens without trying), I genuinely want to know what you think the alternatives are with Iran.

If trying to defuse the tension won;t work, what is left? Blow them up? Pretend they are not there?

I'll bite and give you an extremist point of view for your mental pleasure, the answer to dealing with Iran is simple, we make a trade, you get rid of any ability to create a nuke and join the fight against terrorism becoming an ally with the P5, and we cut off our support for Israel. Not only would this work, but it would sever our ties to the biggest problem our country has, which is defending Israel. After the surrounding countries destroy Israel in a short lasting war, peace and stability can have a possibility of a return, until then the war of religion there will never, ever end as it has not for a thousand years. Sometimes to win a game, or even advance, a piece must be sacrificed. In return, we receive good graces from Iran, Russia, Syria, Pakistan, and more, opening up different horizons and potential for a peaceful middle ease.

An extreme point of view, yes, I know...but it's the only way to truly come out of this in one piece, and release the absurd amount of tension in the middle east. Label me as you will.

I do but it's true IMO regardless, everyone always focusing on the war and conflict and not the liberation. We do more for the world then the world would ever do for us. Not complaining, but I believe that. We are far, far from perfect but we usually do a decent job I think. And it will be apparent as this country falls apart in our attempt to solve the worlds problems, and all else watch from a distance. Our ally's are there simply to help advance themselves and piggy back, once that no longer happens, the marriage is off and the new world order will begin.

What else could I add to this. Oh yea, ALL HAIL HITLER! Or, something...

EDIT: Obama is better looking, at least he smiles. :P

Hmm, interesting. The solution is to step back and watch a middle east nuclear war? Israel has them, they'd use them. Not sure how much radioactive oil Iran could export...

Assuming we would be willing to abandon Israel, what makes you think Iran would want to abandon their quest for nuclear weapons? They would consider US as large a threat as Israel, if not greater, and they would also counter that other threats exist in the world and they would want to be able to defend against all of them, that their program was not purely anti-Israel. What makes you think they want to be a part of our war on terrorism? After all they sponsor parts of it, the terrorists of the world are looking to do us harm, not so much to blow up Iran.
