RIP Paul O'Grady

Reports this morning that Paul O'Grady passed away "unexpectedly but peacefully" yesterday evening at the age of 67. A great talent, lost far too soon. He came to fame through his creation of Lily Savage - as he put it, drag queens at that time "were glamourous with sequins - with Lily, I went the other way, with roots." But he was a great comic in his own persona as well. A shame he's gone.

He was definitely a good sort, a genuinely good person, and from Facebook posts today I have learned that he and I shared a mutual friend.
