RIP Gordon Lightfoot

Truly a national treasure.
As a touching tribute, on Wednesday, at the Maritime Sailors Cathedral, the toll rang 30 times instead of the customary 29.

Though probably best known for The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, he wrote many wonderful songs about the fabric of this nation.

my favorite was "If you could read my mind". Being in Michigan means that this hit us harder, 'cause we adopted him for the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Edmund Fitzgerald one of my favourite songs

Those who saw the relevant Seinfeld episode might recall that one of the characters insisted the ship was called The Gordon Lightfoot, and the song was written and performed by Edmund Fitzgerald.

This led to a snarky comment about it being rammed by The Cat Stevens.

I find it interesting that there's a 2022 copyright on this.
