Storm Éowyn

Hatches are battened down and we're sitting it out. The only damage round here so far is a tree down in my mate Neil's front garden. A big tree admittedly, no injuries but there is a car underneath there somewhere. Now if it was called Storm Charles or William I would be honoured to lose my roof, but for a storm named after some Welsh bint? It's not even getting my bin lid.
It was the top photo but s they add more it keeps getting shuffled down, now about number four. It was taken from just outside my front door.

Oh ye unfaithful who do not recognize the name of the legendary Éowyn, shieldmaiden of Rohan, who valiantly struck down the Witch King during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, over the body of her dying uncle Théoden, son of Thengel, King of Rohan.

Yeah, that garrul really kicked ass.

Seriously, good luck and safe sitting out of the storm. Have something warm and nourishing. Cask Stregth seems fitting here.

I am no man!

All safe here, thanks. And the "ck" are silent, sadly.

All those silent p, k, ck, g, t and whatever thingies are a real pain to any lover and learner of English. Pfuck off, Wooster, you're giving me coburn!

We were pretty lucky when the White Lady of Rohan passed us. All of the very strong winds were to our south, and to a lesser extent north, and we were in a 30 or so mile wide spot of relative calm. Honestly just like any unremarkable January night of weather for us. Loads of folk didn't have it so good, of course. As far as I know there was only 1 fatality.
