Detroit area (Ferndale), some war protestors gathered every Monday evening at a MAJOR intersection - 9 Mile and Woodward - waving signs that asked motorists to honk if they agreed.
Police took exception and went out to enforce the local ordinance prohibiting horn honking except in emergencies. They warned the protestors that the signs disturbed drivers. A couple of them were arrested, cuffed, and printed. The protestors, not the motorists.
(Ferndale has in fact passed city resolutions opposing the war.)
In a settlement with the city, their signs have been returned and the protestors won't sue, though apparently the citations remain.
The protestors plan to challenge the constitutionality of no-honk laws in federal court with the help of the ACLU.
