AC 130 Gunship UP

Postby Lance » Tue Jan 09, 2007 12:34 am

I heard on CNN that one of our AC 130 Gunships just paid a visit to several suspected al Qaeda positions in Somalia.

Sux to be them.

(Yeah, I know it's just flares in that picture, but it has a nice "Angel of Death" look about it.)

Yep. I've highlighted the word that makes me a bit uneasy here. . .

Maybe they're using the old logic of "Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out."

Other then me (and likely Dom), did anyone else notice that it looks like angel wings on either side of the plane?

EDIT: Just saw the rest of Lance's post, N/M.

Excellent. The Ethiopians corner them for us, and we bring in the heavy hitters.

Attack Helicopters strike al-Qaeda

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) -- Attack helicopters strafed suspected al-Qaida fighters in southern Somalia on Tuesday, witnesses said, following two days of airstrikes by U.S. forces - the first U.S. offensives in the African country since 18 American soldiers were killed here in 1993.

In Washington, a U.S. intelligence official said American forces killed five to 10 people in an attack on one target in southern Somalia believed to be associated with al-Qaida. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the operation's sensitivity, said a small number of others present, perhaps four or five, were wounded.

Aircraft carrier off the coast, too.

Supporting/training Ethiopian and other African forces was one of the best moves made post 9/11. They provide the ground force that we can't spare at the moment, and they can fight with the gloves off.

And they don't run away when you kill 18 of them.

I'll second that. The west does not have a good record of hitting the correct targets, or of having good intel.

Airstrikes against suspected terrorists are a favourite Isreali tactic and it isn't doing them much good, either militarily or in world opinion.

Every time the subject of the law comes up people bang on about innocent until proved guilty and due process, but now there is rejoicing about killing suspects. Can we at least have some consistency?

!! Was Wagner actually done with these lyrics? If so, is there an MP3 out on the net somewhere?

Sweet Jesus, KOS, I don't think there was ever a better Bugs Bunny cartoon than:

What's Opera, Doc?

I think this is a free download.

I downloaded it and it hung at 6:00, then crashed the player. If anyone else gets it and it works okay, let us know. Maybe my d/l just got corrupted. (and hanging out with Enzo, I'm not surprised!)

I downloaded it again and it worked this time. What a classic. I remember it from when I was a kid.

Why don't they make wholesome stuff like that anymore? Everything is so violent now-a-days.
