Are The Dems F**king with us?

The Iraqi funding bill that has been passed can still be vetoed by The President. Well, it just so happens that it is filled with so much pork that it will surely be vetoed.

This sets up the Neocons as the bad guys and the good loving Dems as the good guys. Just look. They can say "we wanted to pull the troops out and save american lives and those war-loving Republicans vetoed the bill".

Without knowing the details -- and 90% of all voters don't -- the Democrats are bound to win the next presidental elections.

The pork is irrelevant to the veto. Bush would be on the veto button without any pork.

The pork in this bill pales against the pork in the last one, the famous bridge to nowhere bill.

Nothing new here at all.

I'd think that you'd get it where you can.

Then the pork doesn't make sense. What would be the motivation for adding pork?

C'mon Bill, you buy votes you wouldn't get otherwise with pork.

The fact that Bush will veto it no matter how it got to him doesn't stop them from getting it to his desk nonetheless. They can then claim they did everythin gthey could for us voters, but the opresident let us down. etc etc etc.

That is pretty much what I am saying. They expect it to fail and so they use it for political gain.

I'm afraid I'm not quite sure which one is Lurch. . .

ISTR that particular word being applied to Kerry. I do remember for sure that his critics were fond of slinging shit about what he looks like, which was a lot less relevant than his policies. :P

Ah, OK. I guess I can see that a little bit. Not too much, though.

I hate politics so much.

As in, I hate what politics is, not what it could be.

Politics should be about helping the people; to form a government that serves the interests of it's people, while still maintaining a strong country that will not be taken over by a foreign interest.

It should about policies, the free exchange of ideas, and multiple parties working together for a common goal.

It shouldn't be about "I am a Democrat, you are a Republican; I am better than thou!" type of thought. It shouldn't be about, "Well, HIS politician was an alcoholic; mine just took weed when he was younter". It shouldn't be about, "Well, HE happens to have sex with lots of women..."

It should be about policy, it should be about ideas, it should be about action.

Politics now is just a bunch of horseshit. Bill Thompson practically epitomizes modern politics. And I'm sick of it.

Which is the prime reason why the democratic republic was built the way it was.
