A renaissance man resigns.

The leader of the Liberal Democrat Party (wishy washy, hand wringing, liberal with a small "l") has resigned.

Menzies Campbell was an olympic sprint finalist, and a QC (lawyer at the highest courts) before becoming a politician. Self made with no family money or connections to help him.

It is all too rare when people who have achieved something become politicians rather than those who simply want power or limelight. Of course no-one becomes a LibDem if they want power. :D
