Britney Spears Hospitalized

Postby Lance » Mon Feb 04, 2008 12:38 pm

Poor Britney Spears...

She's been confined to a mental institution against her will. Her 72 hour observation has been extended to two weeks.

Let us all pray for her in her time of need.

Well, if I prayed, I would. I'm not much for praying. But I will wish for her to come out of this with some actual help and on the path to mental health and strength.

She's such a shining example of inspiration for our youth, and such a tremendous and vibrant talent that seeing her fall apart like this is a real shame.

Ah. And there I was wondering for a second if you weren't serious in the OP.

I don't pray, but I see nothing wrong with wishing a not very intelligent, not very solid and seriously derailed person well, even if she has committed the deadly sin of having more "success" than talent. I think she is probably a better person than most of the scum that set about pursuing her every (mis)step with big cameras and fast cars. Or those that set about flaming about her on message boards.

Yeah, I think she's seriously screwed, and that a LOT of this is her fault for bad decisions, but I still don't have it in me to wish her anything but healing.

Yes, it took me quite a long time to learn to deal with fame and success at an early age.

And I dare say, Enzo, that you are still a bit on the excentric side. On the whole, I'd say you are a shinig example of coping competently with this proble.

Me, too. Mainly because it was not MY fame and success.

What TA said, ditto for me. :)

I hear that Brittany's psychiatrist says Brittany has no idea what's going on, a true mental break down. She's totally oblivious to why this is happening.

It's also been said that she probably was misdiagnosed, and actually is severely bipolar.

Weird.

Weird, yes, and sad.

Well, if it is actually HER psychiatrist, he better not be making any comments, since he is legally constrained from doing so.

Since my self-imposed retirement from the mainstream music entertainment business 14 years ago, I have gone out-of-my-way to distance myself from it and to NOT know much about what's happening in it. Frankly, I wouldn't know Britney Spears or her music if she walked up to me in the street and slapped me in the face.

That said, I do remember a comment about her when she first started out: that her fans were all 11-year-old girls and 40-something men.

What is interesting though, is that she, even after her sales have plummeted (OK, I admit - I do like to check sales figures), she still commands a large share of actual news coverage. It strikes me as the latest version of the carnival freak show, but with real victims.

Woof! - Scott
Is there such a thing?

I believe it was one they brought in to assess her condition while in the "hospital".

That still makes it a doctor/patient relationship, and the doctor should not be making any comments like that.
