[rant mode] Every time I think our government can't be anymore embarrassing they do something like this.
It doesn't matter that they know the right thing to do, it doesn't matter that the courts tell them they must do it, it doesn't matter that every fucking person in the country* wants them to do it. The politicians whine and find pathetic excuses to not do it. 100,000 more people? So what, we have a population of 60 million. Gurkhas are hardworking, law abiding and ideal citizens, we'd take all of them in Scotland.

Edit to add: I hadn't seen this photo before. God's Holy Trousers they have a lot of medals for the British Army, and to both have the purple one on the left is astonishing. You generally get the VC postumously.
