Canadian thanksgiving

Postby KLA2 » Mon Oct 11, 2010 2:03 am

Thanksgiving in Canada this year is October 11 {Although celebrated by my family today.}

Each year I wonder why Americans celebrate it a month later than Canadians. Too lazy to Google it. :wink:

My best guess is that a few hundred years ago, a bunch of Canadians got together and said, “Better to hold this a month earlier, before those Yanks grab all the best turkeys." :lol:

Got to go sleep off my turkey dinner, now. :)

So this is when we give thanks for Canada?

Probably because it got pre-empted by Columbus Day this year.

I think it has something to do with the fact that Canada is nearly as cold as where I came from, so the harvest is earlier :P

We don't celebrate thanksgiving but there is a move to have a "Fuck off Puritans Day".
