The Fonz OBE

Postby Heid the Ba » Thu Sep 15, 2011 7:56 am

Henry Winkler awarded an OBE for work with dyslexic and special needs children. I don't know what he does in the US these days but he does a lot of theatre and panto in the UK. I have seen a few interviews and he seems to be a decent guy.

You live long enough, you see everything.

I am sure he deserves it, and wish him well.

Well he certainly has lost some of his coolness mojo in that picture. Maybe he needs to get back to hangin' in milk bars and soda stores?

Captain Hook is one of the great stage roles. One of the most enjoyable renditions was by Cyril Trimnell-Ritchard. Unforgettable. Flamboyant.

As much as I like Dustin Hoffman, Cyril was better. Surely one in a long (hopefully unending) line of actors to play Hook.

If well done, this role steals the show, every time.

We will see how Henry Winkler does.

I liked Jason Issac's (2003) screen version (even though the rest of the flick was crap)

Oh, I don't know about an unending line of Hooks. I think the line needs to end before Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Hugh Grant, Hulk Hogan, oh, and an unending list of others come up for the role. OH, and none of those skinny, brooding guys they always cast for all those vampire movies they can;t quit making.

Didn;t quite get the role:

John Cusack - self-narrates as a Hook with constant girlfriend trouble.

DeNiro - Are you ticking at ME, Croc?

CLint Eastwood - A croc has got to know his limitations. DO you feel lucky, croc? Well DO YOU?

CLint Howard - no, that's just wrong.

Bruce Willis - Hook always seen in a bloody undershirt

Colin Powell - Look, under the don't ask, don;t tell, we are not concerned about Pan. He is free to... they what? Oh...

Goldie Hawn - will do it for $100. Pirate Benjamin. (Oh yes I did.)

Sylvester Stallone - Yo, Pan...

Agreed, and agreed.

Of course, Willis is always at least half in panto mode.

Enzo - as always -

I thought about Arnie, but...

Avast Pee-tah and Vendy!

Nah...

Leonard Nimoy - It is not logical that I should fear this ticking reptile.

Bill Shatner - SPock... Bones,Smee,crewman6.... we've got...tobeamTinkerbell... directly to... my quarters. (clumsy attempt to do the Shattner pauses.)

Dr.Phil - Peeeeter, you've GOT to grow up, and get a job. You can't just flit around with the fairies like that. You can't be taking underage young girls with you, telling them you can make them "fly."

Gary Busey - 'nuff said.

George Lazenby - Arrrrrrn't going to see me in the sequel.

Joe Pesci - Oh, you find my hook funny? Does it amuse you?

Woody Allen - (you know, this has so much potential I just can't decide where to go with it.)
