During the referendum campaign, the main Westminster parties all agreed on a vow to the Scottish population about what great things would happen after a no vote. The first five words of that vow were "“The Scottish Parliament is permanent”. Yesterday, Westminster voted against making the Scottish Parliament permanent.

Indeed, but this duplicity should surprise nobody.

Well, it surprises me, as I didn't know that the Scottish parliament was not already permanent.

Well, there is that I suppose. But no, Westminster can pull down the shutters on that any time it likes.

They closed down the Northern Irish parliament for a while, didn't they?

(Is there a Welsh parliament?)

Yeah, late 70's - early 80's I think, and yes there is a Welsh Assembly. I think it, too, can be closed on a whim by their betters to the east.

I assumed it was permanent, but it doesn't surprise me that it isn't, or that they might shut it down now that we have elected the wrong government.

And now the Tories are getting EVEL to try and scupper future non-Tory Governments.

A review of UK Defence spending was published today.

Things to note:
Five years ago everyone, and I mean everyone, said don't get rid of the Nimrod maritime reconnaissance aircraft. Based in Scotland? Gone. Now they are to be replaced as we need the capability. The aircraft themselves needed replaced but now they have to rebuild the squadrons from scratch. In five years we'll be back to where we were in 2005.

Two new army brigades. No, two brigades are being re-organised and re-equipped with lightweight kit as they have rotated out of Germany. Absolutely no change in capability.

More F35s for our carriers. This might matter if the F35 could do half of what it is supposed to do, it can't. It is overpriced shite. I doubt we'll end up with any, unless Westminster wants to suck up to the US.

Things not mentioned by the BBC: Instead of 13 frigates being built on the Clyde there will be 8. Fewer jobs in Scotland, lower naval capability.

With Brexit now really a thing, it sounds like you guys will get another vote on leaving the U.K.

At some point, we'll have to wait until it all turns to shite.

I don't know. It sounds like it could be sooner rather than later.

And France now wants a Frexit referendum and Northern Ireland said they want to leave the U.K. and reunite with Ireland and remain in the EU.

We live in interesting times.

I was thinking about Scotland then, if you leave the UK, you would then have to decide on returning to the EU or not.

We would almost certainly vote to join the EU, though what terms we would join on are the problem. Not all members are equal.

My initial thoughts:
The Remain campaign had no idea, they simply assumed they were going to win.
The Leave campaign learned from the "No" campaign in the Scottish referendum and simply shouted lies at people to scare them. Those running the Remain campaign can hardly complain as they were the "No" campaign.
The Leave voters are generally older and think that somehow we'll get the Empire back now.
White, working class, uneducated English are venal, selfserving cunts.

Firm agreement with all of those. What a fucking shitty day.

I also agree with Frankie Boyle, who has said these this morning:

Still, at least we have put a stop to economic migration, by making the pound worthless.

And as Boris takes control, we finally understand that they wanted to control our borders so they could stop us from fleeing.

It's important to just accept the result and move on, possibly to another country.

Don't forget that we can restore the value of Sterling simply by buying pounds off each other. I'm offering 30p each.

Remember this? I remember it, and also remember at the time pointing out the possibility of the exact scenario we now find ourselves in.
