Cheerio to the person who has probably done more to bring astronomy to the masses in the UK than anybody else.

Yes, The Sky at Night was easily the most influencial programme on astronomy in the UK.

I met him in London once. One of the major tube stations was closed due to flooding, so I went to look at one of the maps to plan out an alternative route to my destination. Patrick Moore was there, frowning at the map and struggling to do the same thing - so I told him how to get to where he was going. He was massive - very tall, and a long way around.

That is how he always struck me, as a man who knew his way around the universe but who couldn't find his way out of a 'phonebox. :D :-D :grin:

I remember seeing the Night Sky in NZ in the '60s. It was in black and white. Still is.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.
