Are you sure they didn't mean anglophobe? (Could've been a simple typing error)

No proposal needed, that already exists.

Farage is having a good day today. Hopefully the appalling prospect of a Conservative/UKIP coalition government at Westminster after the next UK general election will put sufficient willies up undecided Scottish referendum voters for them to come down on the side of all that is right and proper.

Surely you mean "all that is left and proper"?

I couldn't be bothered starting a new thread:

There is a bye election here today since it turned out the last MSP was a lieing wifebeater. The only party I have seen campaigning is UKIP Scotland, FSM only knows what they stand for.
Get it up ye.

I'd forgotten about that, with everything else that's been going on. I expect a Labour victory, with all of the integrity of the famous election at Dunny-On-The-Wold.

I expect they will, particularly given the antics down the road at Grangemouth, where another arsehole MP's shenanigans (drunk and fighting in the Member's Bar at Westminster) has precipitated proper 1970s industrial strife.

Short version for those furth of Scotland:
MP gets drunk, fights, arrested, says he will stand down next year.
Local Labour party try to rig selection process but local union rig it better.
National Labour party has a strop.
Local union organiser is disciplined by employer for using employer's time and resources on this.
Other employees call strike.
Employer closes factory.
Union caves in.
Get it up ye.

[Scottish stuff]Ironically, said arsehole MP is the one who has made the most sense. I'm no fan of his, in fact I generally can't stand him and I feel dirty for agreeing with him, but he's been right on the money. His blog - look at any randomly selected Grangemouth related piece from the last few days.[/Scottish stuff]

I wholeheartedly agree: Joyce is a dick but he is one of the few talking sense on the subject. It is simply indicative of the relationship between Unite and Labour and the fact that Unite are a bunch of "self-important, know-nothing twats", to quote my RMT shopsteward brother.

Indeed. As "Scrapper" Joyce himself says: Labour in Scotland is looking more like the Scottish Unite Party right now.

It is hard to see how Labour can pitch for inward investment when they blindly support Unite and its stupidity. The conspiracy theorist in me suspect Scottish Labour is doing UK Labour's dirty work prior to the refrendum.

Once again, we are in agreement. A BBC reporter during an outside broadcast yesterday described the plant closure, bizarrely, as "a slap in the face for Alex Salmond" even though 1) it's got nothing to do with the SNP and 2) energy isn't devolved, so there are strict limits on what the Scottish Gov could do anyway. The media are being careful to disassociate Labour from the whole debacle, as expected, when they're actually balls deep in it.
