Do they have an online edition, or the option to send an emailed PDF of the magazine?

I think you can get the entire history of the magazine in some CD or DVD format for a cost which wasn't super high. (I'm thinking maybe 200 USD, but not sure.). Also not sure of how high quality the scans would be from the early days. The problem being, of course, if you want to stay up to date, you need to keep ordering them.

More than $20 if you read it standing upside down dammit.

Yes I daresay they don't want to dispense with their present Colosseum until a new one is built. Only way to keep the mob occupied.

Holy crap! If Usama hid in some of these neighbourhoods, the Americans never would have found him.

But Abbottabad is probably a nicer place.

My ghast is suitably flabbered. Mind you, on the bright side - what an excellent location for making post-apocalyptic films....

I would suggest Mad Max IV, although a little Google work suggests that such a film is already forthcoming.

Ok so you value something at USD 4.6 billion, but you know it would only sell for about 25% of that. So in what way is it worth the big number?

Are utility services still working in Detroit?

The idea is supposed to be that selling them all will depress prices. The 4.6 billion is at the current price level.

So they're worth 4.6 billion, as long as you don't sell them. I have assets worth far more than that, as long as I don't sell them.

Detroit has basic services in general, but SOOOO many street lights are out, neighborhoods are dark. There is a big effort now to restore the street lighting, they are working on it, but it is a large job.

Detroit has decided to go after people not paying their bills, so now there are stacks of water shutoff notices going out, and they intend to turn off water for any unpaid bills.

So they'll be out of the red in next to no time huh?

Because having art that people don't look at is more important than the public having water? Apparently GM owes millions in unpaid water rates but isn't being cut off.

They just announced they are going after the large unpaid industrial and commercial unpaid accounts too.

A while back, the state took over and sent in an "emergency financial manager", so a lot of changes are taking place.

In today's paper:

DEtroit cited 79 customers for water theft - illegally turning the supply back on. $21,000.

The city has about 90,000 delinquent accounts worth about 90 million dollars.

The lighting authority has so far replaced its 10,000th street light.

Houses from a dollar. When I say houses, I mean sometimes a house, sometimes a hole in the ground.

I'd buy THAT for a dollar.

OK, I wouldn't really, but it is for sale for $1 and it was too good an opportunity to quote Robocop to let slip.

I think advertising THIS as a three bedroom property is pushing it, a bit.

Even for an estate agent, yes that is pushing it.

I think there are conditions that they must be renovated, otherwise I would buy up the rest of the houses in my street and knock them down.

Minneapolis?

Postby Lianachan » Wed Oct 22, 2014 4:25 pm

Is Minneapolis fucked as well? THIS seems like a lot of house for a buck.

*EDITED - Never mind. I think this part of the description clears it up: Buyer must purchase and move building from current site. No land included. Building only.
