Mysterious lights reappear in south suburban sky

Postby Lance » Tue Oct 04, 2005 1:27 am

Have any of my fellow Chicagoans heard anything about this?

They're baaack!

Those peculiar pulsing red lights reappeared in south suburban skies early Saturday, causing many a neck to crane upward and many a late-night police switchboard to light up with calls.

A trio of steady red-colored lights seemed to swim across the western night sky starting around 11 p.m. Friday and reappearing after midnight. The three globes at times took a triangular shape but then seemed to form a line, much like similar sightings late last summer and on Halloween, witnesses said.

The lights weren't weather-related, a spokesman for the National Weather Service said. Had the luminous phenomenon been meteorological, weather service satellites would pick up something, he said.

I'm sorry. You were in Lisle, right? Do you ever make it back to the area?

Winfield. I was quite near the Blackwell Forest Preserve, if you know it. Also, the Illinois Prarie Path.

Do you ever make it back to the area?

Sometimes, although it is often just to change at ORD. Sometimes I do get a craving for the Mexican restaurant over at Danada (is it still there?)...

Cozymel's? I love that place. Yeah, it's still there, and just as good as ever. Now I'm getting hungry again.

Yep, that's the place. Oh man, now I have to figure out how to get there. But it's a few miles from either the Geneva or the Aurora train lines, so if I stay in Chicago and don't have a rental car, it's rather a pain to get there...

New Jersey really sucks. I have to get out of here...

- News Flash -

Cyndi - aka the 'Silent Observer' finally breaks her long silence...

Hi Khrushchev's Other Shoe -

Let me introduce myself - I am Lance's 'better half' (yes he really does have one), and as the above statement implies, I am the IRU forum's unofficial 'Silent Observer'.

However, I just had to jump in and post on this one and tell you that if you do happen to get back here... I am sure we could work something out, like picking you up at the train station in Naperville or something.

Then of course then there is that little fact that I work downtown too.

[Well back to my 'Silent Observer' mode.]

See there, Lance and MM Dandy? My secret diabolic plot was to post here, establishing trust, creating just the right environment, and then, finally, when conditions are just right - strike the critical blow, and coax Cyndi into posting!

Cyndi, very pleased to make your acquaintance. And many thanks for your generous offer, we Chicago expats have been deprived of mambo margaritas for far too long. Should I be able to take advantage of this offer some time, the salsa will flow like water, the flame of the fajita will warm us, and we will all drown in a sea of guacamole! Very much looking forward to it. Will advise as situation develops.

Thanks again, and you could post more than once every 9,000 posts :D

You despicable bastard!

Now I'm going to have to suffer the torture of Queso Flameados because of you. And probably a Chimichanga. When will the agony end?

It will end when you come to your senses, leave this pasta-based cult you have joined, and return to the true faith, which is based on the universality and goodness of guacamole...

But I dwell in the House of Guacamole all the time. I make a batch here at home almost every week. By hand. From scratch. Using all fresh ingredients. Well, maybe the tomatoes are a little soft sometimes but I even started using fresh garlic too, instead of the stuff out of the jar.

My GOD man! Isn't that ENOUGH?

(You see, I found that it actually lowers blood pressure and is tasty to boot, but that's another story)

As long as I pay proper homage to the Green Goddess of Guacamole, can I not also worship my Savory Semolina Savior?

That's it?

What am I supposed to say to that?

Well, once you start with polytheism, who knows where it might lead? When you end up in the temple of haggis, don't try to say we didn't warn you...

Now - that I have let the secret of the 'Silent Observer' out of the proverbial bag - and since I was ' warned' not to abandon this thread. Here goes...

Khrushchev's Other Shoe wrote: See there, Lance and MM Dandy? My secret diabolic plot was to post here, establishing trust, creating just the right environment, and then, finally, when conditions are just right - strike the critical blow, and coax Cyndi into posting!

Figures... my gullibility strikes again. [sigh]
Oh well - now you have to deal with me being in your posts.

Khrushchev's Other Shoe wrote: Cyndi, very pleased to make your acquaintance. And many thanks for your generous offer....

Why, Thank You KOS (may I call you KOS? well I am going to regardless). Let me say that it is a pleasure to finally meet you as well.

Khrushchev's Other Shoe wrote:...the salsa will flow like water, the flame of the fajita will warm us, and we will all drown in a sea of guacamole! Very much looking forward to it.

Mmmmmmmm [insert noise of stomach growling here] - Now really - That my new friend, is cruelty at it's finest.
Here I sit at work downtown Chicago at 12:37 AM reading that post. Cruel - very cruel.

Do you have any idea just how few restaurants are open in the Loop area at this time of night ??? Or even just at night in general?

But hark - there is hope... I have Lance's infamous 'Cajun' grilled chicken... Ah Yes, I believe it is time for my din-din - ok KOS - you are forgiven this once for that intolerable temptation.

Khrushchev's Other Shoe wrote:...you could post more than once every 9,000 posts :D

Consider yourself lucky... I was trying to hold out for the 10,000 post mark. With as fast as IRU has taken off over these past few months, I didn't think I had too much longer to wait either.... but alas... I fell into your clever trap.

Well - my Cajun dinner is calling....

No. Just go to GoogleEarth, type in the name of the town, and click on the Restaurants icon in the left toolbar.
