Yesterday evening , my wife commented on this: So he can go elephant hunting more often now, can't he?

He has played an important role in stabilizing democracy in Spain, but I agree it would be a good idea for Spain to think about abolishing the monarchy altogether. Felipe is nice enough, but I find it hard to believe he will be the integrative power his father was when it mattered.

Monarchy schmonarchy. Who needs one?
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.

If you are seeing an apparent paradox, that means you are missing something.

Hey, let's not forget he shot his brother as well as elephants.

He did good work in the 70s and 80s but his time (and arguably the Spanish monarchy's) has passed.
Get it up ye.

It was his younger brother so less suspicious than shooting the heir.
