There has been research done here that suggests the average intelligence of our liberal/Democrats is slightly higher than that of our conservative/Republicans. This is another data point in support of it.

We call those "moderates". They are the smartest of all.

I agree. Back when there were, oh, fifty or a hundred running for the republican nod, Kasich was just another nobody on the list. But then as the other contenders were shook out, leaving the scary Ted Cruz and the clownish Trump, Kasich starts to look more like a reasonable candidate.

There is a lot of bubbling anti-Hillary sentiment, even among democrats, but certainly with republicans, but the Trump and Cruz prospect sicken even many hard core republicans, so a Hillary vote, or a stay home and not vote option looks good to them. having a guy like Kasich, whom they have no reason to hate, makes him viable.

But that is pretty much all he has going for him.

I do seem to notice that Trump has been getting a lot less attention lately. Don't know if that is from scheduling of debates and primaries or if we are all just collectively sick of him.

But Trump does that Mussolini, chin in the air, my how pleased with my self I am, look so well...

I find the risk on this is, people's descriptions of the various candidates are usually far more informative about the person describing, than the person being described. But I'll ask anyway.

For the benefit of us refugees who haven't been following this all that closely, what is the short version on Ted Cruz? Most of what I turned up in a quick Google seemed fairly "processed".

I fully understand what is clownish about Trump, and Clinton has been very much in the news for decades, so I think I know what she is about. So Cruz and Sanders are the big question marks for me. At least out of those who seem like they actually have a chance.

Cruz is the one who spent 21 hours on the floor of the senate reading Dr. Seuss. He also once supported banning dildos in Texas.

So he wants to abolish the IRS? The organisation requiring everyone in southeast Asia (and the rest of the world) to fill out US tax forms when they want to open a bank account? I hope he gets his way on that!

Meanwhile, Trump confuses a significant terrorist attack with a chain of convenience stores and still wins big in New York.

Have you ever had a burrito from a 7/11? Terrorist attack isn't really all that wrong.

Yeah I know, I used to watch the 'new' episodes on B&W TV as a kid (when they first shipped the canisters here in the 1960s). All the same, did you like my pun?

And it looks like he'll have more opportunities to read such compelling literature on the floor of the senate, where he'll be staying for a few years.

It took Carly Fiorina 6 years to run HP into the ground and only 6 days to destroy Cruz's campaign. Not bad.

I'm thankful he finally got out. If the choice were between him and Trump, I'd have to pick Trump.

It struck me today that the Republican Party view their nomination process the same way the US and UK viewed Iraq. Democracy is a great idea until it produces something you don't want.
