In the spirit of Xmas I have put a menorah in our front window. In Brexit Britain I will be sadly disappointed if no-one paints a swastika and "Muslims go home" on my garage door.

Here in Lansing, the Detroit Satanic temple has put up a "Snaketivity" scene on the Capitol lawn.

http://www.mlive.com/lansing-news/index ... day_d.html

They did this in response to the Christian groups who managed to get their Christmas displays on the grounds.

I'm reading a cheerful little book just now on the Partition of India, The Great Partition by Yasmin Khan, and there are a lot of similarities to Brexit with everyone having an idea of what will happen, undefined terms getting bandied about, it all gets rushed through, and ending up in a completely unforeseen way with no-one happy. I doubt we'll get the civil war or ethnic cleansing though.

Oh, and if anyone talks toss about the current migrant/refugee/shifty darkie crisis just laugh and point out Partition with possibly a million dead and at least 12 million displaced from one country to the other and probably the same again internally.

My snowboarding buddy's in-laws are Brexiteer Little Englanders (though his wife isn't), over Xmas one said he had voted for Brexit "so we'd be able to take care of our ex-servicemen better". You know, because Brussels stops us, or something.

The Pry Minister finally says something. Sounds like the UK is cutting off it's nose, and shoving that up it's arse, to spite it's face.

Oh, fucking fuck. Including:

◾Maintaining the common travel area between the UK and Irish Republic
-----------and Eire has a common travel are with the rest of the EU so for travel purposes Norn Iron (and by extension the UK) have common travel? Unless Eire operates our border controls at their entry points. And they laughed when May asked them. See also: Mexicans, wall, paying for same.

◾Tariff-free trade with the EU
----------I'm not sure we can unilaterally declare that. Mutti and others might want concessions in exchange for it.

◾A customs agreement with the EU
--------we'll automatically have the default one, and get fucked over, unless we make concessions etc.

◾New trade agreements with countries outside the EU
------------excellent, as long as they are better than our current ones. But to get them we'll have to make concessions. India essentially (and very politely) told May to raffle herself unless we opened up more student visas.

◾Continued "practical" sharing of intelligence and policing information
----------not actually covered by our membership of the EU, but by other agreements.

◾"Control" of immigration rights for EU citizens in the UK and UK citizens in the EU
-----------again, can't be done unilaterally. I think the EU's official response to this was "LOL Nope".

◾A "phased approach"
------------so Brexit doesn't mean Brexit?

Fuck them all with a very big fucky thing.
Get it up ye.

Elsewhere there seem to be concerns about intelligence sharing, with the US intelligence community telling the Israelis not to share anything confidential with the Trump administration.

The mistake you are making is looking at the process; we are supposed to look at the outcome. No I don't know what that means either.

[pedant mode] I think you mean the Britannic into a minefield. [/pedant mode]

This is the sort of nonsense that made Brexit happen.

Including: "Joy proudly tells of how his family goes back all the way to Hastings in the 11th century. “The concept of being governed by an unelected body would have been absolutely abhorrent to anyone in those days." Yes, the fucking king, who just killed the last fucking king, was really big on the will of the common people.

The Daily Mail ran an article last year essentially saying that since the English couldn't vote for or against the SNP the SNP should have no say in UK politics.
