One week away from the election, it's more clear than ever that the "choice" between a proven war criminal and a fascist patriarch is no choice at all.

This forecast is predicting 298-240 for the PWC over the FP, but he notes that if Florida were to flip over from the former to the latter, that would produce a 269-269 tie.

Which brings up an interesting questions. When this happens, it goes to the House of Representatives, which must choose from the top three vote-getters, and which votes per state. For at least the last few decades, that would generally favour the Republican candidate, but this time, the Republican establishment is not very enthusiastic about their candidate. So might some normally Republican states put the PWC in the white house?

The other scenario I've seen discussed is that, even with a FP victory next week, some of the electors from states that voted FP, might decide to vote for PWC anyway. So we will really know for sure in early January.

It's a small, crowded country here, but there's still some room. It's very hot - I don't have a heater in my home (and I don't think anyone else does either). But for immigration purposes, you really should have a decent job lined up. Which you probably want anyway - my general impression is that it would really suck to be poor in this country.

Does your emigration depend on the outcome of the election? (FWIW, one particular party has won every election here since 1959.)

If they get locked and don't decide (or even sit) before January 20th the vice-president-elect becomes Acting President. So just Pence in the WH.
If even the Senate can't make up its mind (which is a lot less likely since the candidates are considerably less controversial) the Speaker of the House becomes Acting President until the House elects a president. So just Ryan in the WH.

If the House goes with HRC the Senate would prolly still go for Pence. So a split White House: HRC/Pence.

Now, if McMullin wins any EC-votes he might make a good alternative for the GOP members of the House.
He was a Republican until the day before he announced his candidacy. So McMullin/Pence.

All in all, the system is archaic and stupid. This election might well lead to a major overhaul.

Another thing, the new Congress sits 03JAN2017 so if the House is undecided long enough the new House gets to vote on it.

If I understand the system correctly, the electoral votes are not officially counted until January 6th. So even if we know this Tuesday night (well, Wednesday for Euroweasels and Asiaweasels) that no one has received the requisite 270, it will be the new congress, not the old congress, that decides. (We won't even know with absolute certainty until January 6th, some electors could violate tradition and vote for another candidate.)

Which might not be a Republican majority house.

It may not be, but they don't vote in the usual way on this issue - each state gets equal weight. This tends to favour the Republicans.

So let's see, if it comes out 269-269 this week, I wouldn't be surprised if some Republicans other than the FP get some electoral votes. In fact, maybe a lot of them will get some votes.

here in Michigan on election day, it is to be a good 10-12 degrees above normal - so 65-68 degrees F.

The wife and I are planning our day. We want to go vote - across the street, and then go to the brewery next door, but the brewery doesn't open until noon. So ther seems little point in voting first thing in the morning.

The new Congress, meeting in January, rally behind this dark horse candidate, and pass an enabling act to allow his candidacy. They promptly select him as the first President of the newly renamed Angry States of Central North America with Illegally Acquired Territory in the Southwest and Central Pacific.

There are still some paths to victory for the Proven War Criminal, but it's looking pretty tough right now. The financial markets are clearly predicting a Fascist Patriarch victory at this point.

Some of the projections are now for Pennsylvania to go to the FP. If that happens, the PWC is finished.

The source I tend to follow is showing the FP with Arizona and Wisconsin, which gives him 269. It would then be impossible for the PWC to get more than 269, meaning the dark horse candidacy of Мастер is still a possibility.

So the tie scenario now is Arizona and one of Maine or New Hampshire (but not both) going for the FP, with Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and the other of New Hampshire or Maine going for the PWC. This scenario does not seem likely now, though.
