Dead at 69. Pretty young... :(

He made people laugh is a pretty good epitaph.

Considering how much he was in, this is pretty remarkable, but I've never seen him. I didn't recognise the name or face at all, and checking IMDB I've never watched anything he was in.

Nonetheless, he sounds like a good'un. 2016 is obviously not done yet.

I suspect it is a Trans-Pondian thing since I had no idea who he was either. Without wishing to be a dick I have seen a number of posts elsewhere which suggest that while funny, the man was an arse.
Get it up ye.

Ah, really? All I had to go on was a list of stuff he'd been in, a number of which I recognised as being popular. Not, I suppose, a reliable indicator of character.

In my recollection, he came on the scene as a talk show host, a sort of lite version of Merv Grifin or Johnny Carson. Mostly daytime TV. And he did occasional guest appearances on sitcoms. Eventually got a sitcom or two of his own. General purpose handsome TV "personality".

Ditto - never heard of him.

He had a talk show that I don't think did all that well. The sit-com was his big thing.
But he was quite an accomplished writer & producer.
Enzo, you will probably be as surprised as I was to read he was a writer & producer for both Fernwood & America 2 Night, and other great comedy shows.

I admit to ignorance of his off-screen work, other than that he was active in the industry. I wouldn't really expect anyone out of North America to know much about him.
