So he said Woodward's book was fake and he would write 'the real book'.
Dana Milbank has provided a glimpse of what could be with his submission for the jacket cover: :D

Before Donald Trump became president, there was 42 percent unemployment, most of the residents of Chicago had been murdered, the violent gang MS-13, led by Nancy Pelosi, controlled much of the country, President Barack Obama personally tapped Trump’s phones and Ted Cruz’s father assassinated John F. Kennedy.

Then, in November 2016, Trump won a bigger electoral landslide than Ronald Reagan’s, despite millions of fraudulent votes for his opponent. Immediately, American carnage ceased, every African American got a job, the economy became “soooo good, perhaps the best in our country’s history,” and Trump was more popular than Abraham Lincoln.

Despite the fact Trump had Made America Great Again, Democrats, aided by the failing New York Times, the Amazon Washington Post and fake-news CNN, used a phony dossier to start a rigged witch hunt. There was NO COLLUSION, but leaking liar James B. Comey, mentally disabled Jeff Sessions, angry conflicted Democrat Robert S. Mueller III, so-called judges, the corrupt FBI and the “Justice” Department made Joseph McCarthy look like a baby!

Fortunately, Trump summarily declared them all guilty of treason, did the same to the rest of his opponents and then assembled the largest audience ever to witness an execution, period. Now he is president for life and, when he speaks, people sit up at attention.

Speaking about the storm Florence, Trump said "This is a tough hurricane. "One of the wettest in terms of water."

Gotta run, I have to notify the Nobel Committee.

I don't get it. He's not stupid. Why does he always sound like a 6th grader?

If you watch recordings of Trump 20 years ago, there’s quite a difference in the way he speaks relative to today.

Even in the early days of "The Apprentice" he didn't sound as bad. Honestly, when we first heard he was running we were pleased, but then we started paying more attention to him and did a complete 180.

Many people have said he's completely different when the lights are off and the cameras aren't running. I don't know. All I see is a moron.

No. I just don't think you can get as far as he has being as much of an idiot as he appears to be.

I've heard he's a total suck-up in person. Wouldn't know, I've never met him. I've never met any US president. I am told that as a very young child, I met someone who was trying to become a US president, but he got his head shot off.

The kid in an alley in New York running a three-card monte scam can make tons of money, and need not be "smart". Trump is a BS artist, I give him that, but I don;t see any evidence of real intelligence.

They were shocked by people walking out of a performance they didn't like? I don't get it. You make a song mocking and denigrating someone, so maybe people liking that someone won't like the song. What is there to be shocked about?

I don't know. If I were travelling Texas and went to a country music festival to get a feel for the local music scene, and a performer would sing to me how Hillary should go to jail, how a nigger President dragged down America, how the brave policemen in U.S. cities defended society against a wave of black crime and how Angie Merkel needed a good old Texas oil drill up her fanny to give her some respect for the good ol' U.S.... Maybe I'd leave, too. I don't get how this is newsworthy

What I really, really dont't get is how everyone is "shocked" at the American tourists leaving. If you heap insult on a public figure (and that is what I take "less than flattering" to mean), some people will clap and some will get angry. So what? To be good at lashing out and then being "shocked" at the reaction seems like a particular form of hypocrisy to me.

Meanwhile, 500 or so miles to the south, I chaired a guest lecture at SOAS by a US former trade negotiator, now academic. Very, very powerful. He took us through the history of US trade politics since 1776 (literally!), explaining very, very clearly, how much time and struggle against highly concerted opposition had gone into getting the US to the point where it lowered tariffs, generally favouring free trade over protectionism. And in a brief conclusion, he said, "And now Trump is tearing all that up." Nobody walked out of that one.

On a side note, this thread has not been showing up in my 'view new posts' (link in right sidebar, portal page).
Today it showed up, 4 previous posts did not. Up to the 23Oct. post it was always showing up.

Any one else experience this glitch with this or other threads?

Hey folks! Been busy at work and other things, but thought I'd pop on for an update.

The Good:
- Democrats won the majority in the House. Hopefully, they can replace the current oversight committees' oil lamps with some spotlights.

- Evers beat Scott Walker for Wisconsin governor, and another democrat won the AG position. Nobody here is directly affected by it, but hopefully, it'll mean that Brendan Dassey may get to go home sooner rather than later.

The Bad:
- Billie Sutton came up shy for the governor of South Dakota. It wasn't even as close as I would have liked, but for a deeply red state, hopefully it was enough to make Noem consider how closely she mirrors Trump.

- Florida is still really bad at elections.

- Nancy Pelosi will likely be the House majority leader.

The Ugly:
- Trump declared a mid-term victory, anyway, and claims that the only Republicans who got beat were the ones who didn't want his support. Of course, this overlooks that for the most part, he supported candidates in places that overwhelmingly voted Republican in 2016, and that a significant portion of them were much, much closer this time around. On the other hand, most of the flipped House seats were Republicans in places that had voted for Hillary.

- Trump fired Sessions. Under other circumstances, this could have been a good thing: Sessions is a racist, authoritarian asshole. Sadly, we live in a world where this was just another Wednesday, because, when you use a guy as a punching bag for 18 months, it becomes obvious that it just wasn't going to work out. So, no, Trump will not have holy hell to pay. Getting to slide in a guy whose on the record as being opposed to the Mueller probe, and has mentioned a few ways to choke it without killing it was just a bonus. Now, Whitaker might not be another racist, authoritarian asshole. But he is from Iowa, home of confederate sympathizer, racist, white nationalist asshole Steve King - who just got re-elected to another term in the House.
People keep saying that the Mueller probe does have some protections, but I don't see how it will help. If, before the next session of Congress begins, Whitaker decides to limit or outright terminate the investigation, all he needs to do is have some BS reason to do it. The Republican-led oversight committees will undoubtedly agree with whatever BS reason Whitaker comes up with, and that will be that.

- Finally, in my neck of the woods, I am seeing a lot of farmland going on the auction block. My parents have opted to shift their risk - they aren't fully retiring and selling out, but they will be renting out all of their farmland this year. Hopefully, either the trade war will end or new markets can be found for US crops, and when they do sell out, they'll get a good price. If neither happens, I fear that we will see farm foreclosures similar to what we saw here in the late 70s/early 80s, and my folks may not realistically have the option to sell.

I am certainly concerned what damage the lame duck group in congress will do in the next two months.
