Sigh ...

Well, it is possible he caught it from a democrat.

Sure it's possible. But the argument was it was a deliberate poisoning: "why is it only the Republicans getting it and not the Democrats?"

Umm ... look at the photos? Who's gathering in large crowds with no social distancing and masks? Doesn't matter ... every fucking thing is a conspiracy theory these days. Agh!!!

(OK, I don't wish death on anyone)

With any luck, Trump will fulfill his goal as president for life.

We can't visit grandma dying in the hospital, but he can leave the hospital, drive around to wave at people, then go back in?

(dying? Die-ing? About to croak?)

He was going to meet his Maker, but He refused to accept him, as any period of warranty had expired and sent him back unrepaired.

Sending him home this quick does not add up. Either he didn't have full-blown symptoms or they've got a hospital set up at the WH or he plain and simple didn't have it (false positive).

There's no way that fat f*ck beat it that quickly and easily, even with all the best meds available for free (paid for by you and me) to him.

No f*cking way.

Well, from this article,

https://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2020-54427390

we do have the quote,

Navy Cdr Sean Conley, the White House physician, said on Monday afternoon that Mr Trump "may not entirely be out of the woods yet", but that the medical team agreed the president's status and progress "support his safe return home, where he'll be surrounded by world-class medical care 24/7".

I have seen other comments, that it's actually quite unusual for a US president to go to hospital, since the White House already has very good medical facilities.

Supposedly, there was an argument before he went, with his advisors telling him he needed to go, and him being very reluctant.

I saw something else about how he went after the close of US markets, to avoid a drop. A lot of firms do something like this - they announce bad news on Friday, after markets close. Apparently, Monday morning, when markets reopen, everyone will just keep trading the stock at the old price, as if nothing happened.

There was also a pretty sharp reduction in twitter storm intensity on Saturday.

Altogether, I think there was a real, genuine scare here. Or hope, depending on how you look at it.

And this one

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/10/06/poli ... index.html

claims the return was against the advice being given to him.

A still infectious Trump ignored advisers who wanted him to stay admitted and instead rode Marine One from Walter Reed Military National Military Medical Center back to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

No source for that statement identified, though.

The article is a bit over-the-top.

I have to disagree on that one. Even though your risk of a severe disease course is higher the older you are (25 % case fatality reported for those over 80), you can still have a relatively light course at that age. Testing +ve two days before the onset of symptoms, having two real bad days with a fever and then going into reconvalescence is not implausible.

Of course, I'm not saying they aren't lying to us. Or that anything about this story sounds normal. This drug stuff makes my head hurt. So he received an experimental antibody drug not yet approved for the treatment of Covid-19? The President as a guinea pig for an unapproved drug still undergoing testing ? Wow. He was given Remdesivir, even though he was reported NOT to be on supplemental oxygen (Remdesivir is approved for use in Covid patients with pneumonia and diminished oxygen levels in the blood). He was given Dexamethasone, even though that is reserved for patients on a ventilator with severe "cytokine storm" symptoms? What were the doctors thinking? Did he tell them, hy, I'm the Prez, throw anything at me you have, and they complied? Oh. My. They seem to be in the mindset that drug approvals exist to keep the normal patients from the good stuff while the celebs and the rich guys get what is really effective. Where was the stern attending telling the Me-me-me pain in the ass rich guy to cut it and take the scientifically approved drugs (and only those) or to look for an idiot giving in to his whims at a different hospital?

Donald trump is the man who infects others with his lack of professionalism.

Edited by Мастер - fixed the second quotation block.

I have seen it suggested that the only reason Trump is on his feet is that he's full of steroids and other drugs. I have no idea what medical qualifications the people touting this theory have. I suspect Trump gets what he wants, possibly as he was in a military hospital and he is CinC.

Globally - 34.7 million cases from a population of 7.8 billion.

Heads of government - at least four:

UK
Brazil
Honduras

That's out of 195 or so countries, depending on how you count them.

Iran as well.

I haven't found that Rouhani has it, but some ministers and a vice-president. If we open it up to other officials, then it's out of a population of much more than 195.

He said it made him better than he's felt in 20 years, I guess I'll have to try and get infected.

I believe this refers to the title character from Gilligan's Island. Gilligan was famous for trying to make things better but only ever making them worse, in hillarious ways.

Yes, he was, but this specifically refers to his habit of repeating the definitions of words.

Here is an example:

Professor: "In order to make this new coconut-based radio function properly, we need an new receiving antenna installed on top of that coconut tree by the lagoon. In order to properly support it, someone will have to be ambidextrous."

Gilligan: "Yeah, and they have to use both hands, too."
