We'll have to put enough pressure on MPs etc. To force one.

She has a Brexit minister for that, David Davis. But the moniker is still very apt.

And is that likely?

I don't know whether it is likely or not, but it wouldn't even be necessary - the referendum was not binding, but the government would have looked really bad if they reneged on it.

From the UK side, all it would take is for a new government to decide they don't want to Brexit, and just ignore the referendum result, and face the fury (if any) at the next election.

From the EU side, I think (and I'm a long way from 100% on this one) that it would take a unanimous vote from the other 27 countries to ignore the withdrawal notice, which has already been given.

I also see the new coalition partner wants to teach creationism in the schools. I'm not sure if that's just in Northern Ireland, or all of the UK.

I don't mean to derail the thread, but I couldn't help noticing some of the tangential rhetoric -- am I to understand that the mostly-Roman Catholic Republic of Ireland is the more liberal one?

No, one is as bad as the other. In this case though since the schools in the Republic are church/Jesuit they wouldn't entertain Creationism so they are better on one point. May always deflects when asked if she is religious giving some guff about being a vicar's daughter but the more power she gets the more evangelical she looks.

Incoming Governments (and any government annually) writes the Queen's speech which sets out their planned legislative programme, delivered by Wee Betty in clipped RP while wearing the big hat. It has been pushed back a couple of days while the government try to decide what they agree on and what the DUP can force through that the public will wear. I suspect the outrage if they try too much will bring the government down.

I think you're right but if given the option they'll let us step back from the brink, for a fee of course. If I was a mainlander I'd work it right up the UK, but I'm a very petty man.

I looked at article 50, and it contains nothing on a reversal of the decision to leave. Since no laws would have changed, and no treaties entered into if the UK were to declare it an April Fool's, I think business would go on as usual, and the 27 would find exquisitly nasty ways to show the Brits they were at the end of the queue now.

It won't happen. It's trainwreck, total trainwreck or monumental totally and utterly fucked-up trainwreck now.

Sorry to disappoint you, but this time, I was actually trying to speak English and not translate from German.
