Gibson files bankruptcy

Postby Arneb » Tue May 01, 2018 9:14 pm

I never played rhe guitar beyond the uncool three-chord stage on a bad classical instrument, bzt I totally get why this must be a sad day for a lot of people.

I read they are working on a restructuring plan
Good luck.

Seems like they overextended their many corporate fingers into too many diversification pies, and couldn't afford the cost of rationalisation of their newly acquired overseas interests.

But at least it is chapter 11 rather than chapter 7.

Sounds more like restructuring than 'going under' from what I've read. They are ditching their 'gibson innovations' division (electronics, software, etc.) to return their focus to Gibson and Epiphone musical instruments.
Can only be a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
