Mr. Cheney's duck hunt.

Postby RAF » Tue Feb 14, 2006 7:44 pm

It looks like this story is turning from comedic and is aiming (pun intended) toward tragic.

From what I've seen on TV this morning, Mr. Cheney's victim has a piece of the Buck shot/bird shot (I don't know which) lodged in his heart in such a way that the doctors feel leaving it there poses less risk than trying to remove it.

There was also a (no symptom) heart attack involved.

The title of this thread is in reference to MSNBC. Last night, they did a "recreation" of the accident using the graphics from the old nintendo game, Duck Hunt.

It was really funny then...not so much now...

I wish they had told us sooner that the poor guy was really in some trouble. Now I feel guilty for all the laughing I've been doing.

Chaney, what a ma'woon.

it pisses me off that this is getting more coverage than Gore's incitement to riot speech in Saudi Arabia.

Hunter Shot by Cheney Has Heart Attack
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - The 78-year-old lawyer who was shot by Vice President Dick Cheney in a hunting accident has some birdshot in or touching his heart and he had "a silent heart attack" Tuesday morning, hospital officials said.

The victim, Harry Whittington, was immediately moved back to the intensive care unit for further treatment, said Peter Banko, the administrator at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial in Texas.

I don't think the incident was ever funny.

My brother was driving a car and had three other passengers. The car hit a tree, and everyone was thrown from the vehicle. This was a serious accident. One of the passengers died as a result. My brother has never been the same. My brother often talks about how he held the boy with a broken neck in his arms. He is so guilt ridden.

I feel for the Cheney and Whittington families.

How could he? Readings from the BAUT, Lonewulf doesn't leave his house. Unless, he has telekinetic powers.

Yep...pretty pointless to delay that information...

I just heard...Cheney was hunting Quail illegally. There's a 7 dollar "bird stamp" that he needed on his hunting license...he didn't have it.

How dumb are these people that run our government?

Don't answer that...I don't want to know.

Yes I heard this, he is getting a warning citation for not having his permit in order.

I have not heard that he is getting a warning for shooting some guy in the face.

I think it's still funny. Sad-funny.

You would suspect that a 78-year old Texan lawyer knee deep in politics
would be old and wise and paranoid enough to stay BEHIND Cheney.

No, but I still find it funny.

I mean, gosh, these guys are *politicians*. That automatically means they aren't people.

Ever notice that the liberal Democrats get away with anything (war, character assinations etc) and yet the conservative Republicans get accused of everything, including hurricanes?

I think a Clinton or a Kerry would have lots of support and comfort and sympathy if he accidently shot someone.

Or drove them off a bridge.

In this particular case, though, I must agree that the V.P. handled the situation very badly. He should have issued a statement right away.

I imported your moon for your avatar. Hope that's okay.

Very nice, although rather brutal. Was the choice of the spelling "Quayle" deliberate?

Aww, that's small potato...potatoe...

Well, it's not really a good comparison. Besides, if you were to give both Dan Quayle and Dick Cheney a gun, I'd still feel safer with Cheney.

On the flip side, I understand that Kerry is also an experienced sportsman, but his first-place Turkey Hunt trophy claim is still unsubstantiated.

For me, it would depend on whether I got the feeling that Cheney liked me or not.
