Yes, I was to stay at my main home which isn't far from her's, and not go to my second home, which isn't far from her's. Edinburgh and Edinburgh, Earlsferry and Crail, since you ask.

I did not know, honestly, how similar they are, but we use somewhat more aggressive hygienic precautions when protecting against SARS-CoV 2 than against seasonal influenza - notably, the FFP2 masks, although they are not very much more effective than an ordinary surgical mask.

Uh-oh. BoJo in an ICU. Precautionary, routine procedure in the spirit of quiet, good-humoured resolve. We know .

I bet he wishes he’d taken this all more seriously fucking weeks ago now. Though I don’t wish anybody ill, he’s probably the infected person for whom I have the least sympathy.

Rees-Mogg was pontificating about what a great man and great Tory BoJo is, conveniently forgetting that our Supreme Court held that he'd lied to Wee Betty.

From this website:

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articl ... s-explored

12. You can protect yourself by gargling bleach

Yikes!

There is also this one.

15. Garlic protects against coronaviruses

Some research suggests that garlic might slow the growth of some species of bacteria. However, COVID-19 is caused by a virus, and there is no evidence that garlic can protect people against COVID-19.

I should be well protected from bacterial infections then.

From the BBC website, talking about supermarket sales and panic buying:
“6 million tins of beans, more than double the usual amount
3.3 million tins of tomatoes, up 115% compared to a typical week“

People were apparently outside clapping for BoJo the Clown last night! The man whose bluster and delays are probably going to end up costing thousands of lives. Fuckwits.

So also more than double the usual amount for tomatoes.

Maybe just trying to vary the phrasing a bit, avoid being monotonous.

Like an athlete, they just want to always give 110%.

Reminds me: one time my wife went into a copy store and asked to have some document "reduced by half". Without pause or hint of irony, the clerk said, "Oh, sorry, we can only do percents."

I’m guessing you said, “oh no! Well, I guess we’ll just have to settle for 50% then. Are you sure you can’t do half, though?”

Not in our street they weren't. But then this is an area that a) voted for neither Brexit nor the Tories in significant numbers and b) has a high proportion of people working in healthcare. Of course the two might be related!

I'm interpreting the lack of news to mean that he's probably not doing well. The theory being, if he were recovering, the government/tories would be publicising this.

Is this the correct interpretation?

287 new cases here today.

Back when I started to keep track, and thought it seemed like this was being brought under control, 287 was more than the total number of cases.

How come some viruses like SARS, MERS, HxNx eventually eliminate themselves from the environment and others like Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever, and Influenza don't?
