Looks like there were recurrences of the plague in England in 1471 and 1479-1480.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_plague_pandemic

These were before Henry VIII was born, but were during the life of Henry VII, although he was not yet king - as we know, he only took the throne in 1498, after the thirteen year glorious reign of Richard IV.

And pandemics originating in 542AD in Byzantium, and in 19th Century in China (as well as the mid 14th century and 15th century recurrences), and "3248 documented cases, which resulted in 584 deaths" between 2010 and 2015  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubonic_plague

"Entertainment venues" to be closed down in 48 hours and 20 minutes. Hard times ahead for the hookers over by Orchard Road.

Yes - nationwide lockdown started today. We're all working from home for at least 4 weeks. We have to stay in the same place - police and military patrols about. Can't even get to the bach dammit. I was looking forward to going this weekend, the weather forecast is fine and the beach is nice when its like that.

Trying to think how to avoid insanity. (Has idea for new game thread viewtopic.php?f=19&t=9394)

Senator John Thune has fallen ill and is now isolating himself here in South Dakota. No word yet on whether he's been tested. Senator Rand Paul was confirmed to have the virus, and spent the interim between testing and the results in DC, doing business as usual. If Thune is also positive, I wonder what the odds are that they had the same source.

Unfortunately Bozo can't seem to take it seriously.

I saw that. That's not good, given what a big generator of strong air currents he is. He could infect a lot of other people.

Just looked at this. Honest Government ads, produced by Juice Media, are amazing! For those whom the restrictions mean work is less busy - and also for those who could use some satire during what breaks they do get - the others are well worth checking out. There's a particularly good one about the Australian bushfires.

Mortality rate, three of 1,000. Looks you're doing OK so far.

Emphasis on "so far". Some of the 752 active cases could still die.

I am almost out of shaving cream.

Ordered a new batch for delivery to a mailbox I have in Europe. I was supposed to pick it up a few weeks ago. (Not the primary purpose of the trip.)

When it became clear I wouldn't be able to go on the trip as scheduled, I ordered a new batch for delivery here. It was supposed to arrive March 24-31. Still not here.

I may have to go back to foam in a can.

So I was thinking about marketing coronavirus detection spray.

It would be red spray paint.

The instructions would read, spray this on the surface that is suspected to be infected. If it turns red, then coronavirus is present.
