Yes, that is it in a nutshell. Taj Mahal, check. Eiffel Tower, check. Blue Mosque Istanbul, check. I am now in some doubt as to whether it is the Red Fort in Delhi or Agra which is used, I think the former but it could be both. In either case it is simply an establishing shot to show the whole world is involved.

No Sandler, no Supermarionation, no Independence, no Days after. It is a film that has been talked about on here and most (if not all) have seen it.

So, a global disaster movie with no aliens. Natural disaster of some kind, presumably. Is it turgid yawn-fest 2012?

Is it that piece of shit where they have to fly into, through, by or beyond the Sun (or whatever, it involved hyper stuff and dimensions and so on) in order to find a new Earth because the old one is kaputt, but it goes wrong somehow?

I couldn't remember the names of those, having seen neither, but was going to guess them (the other way around, though).

I think it was Armageddon. Those establishing shots of all the world's fun places getting smashed by this cloud of little stones in which the Big One seems to be enveloped. I suppressed the knowledge of that film after surviving it, so I couldn't remember that sequence in its entirety. Of course, Miss Liberty and the top of Empire State flying through the streets of Manhattan (don't they always) and Paris being eaten up from the POV of a gargoyle up on Notre Dame was worth the first 5 p of the entrance fee.

If you have a good Suspension of Disbelief, it's a great movie. I liked it a lot and still watch it when it's on.

Sharp disagreement. It's a total, utter piece of shit. Did you see the fog? On the astreroid? Nothing there beyond the basic idea of We Could All Die in a Cosmic Collision is any story at all. You see, I am no stranger to suspension of disbelief. I can binge-watch Star Wars, Star Trek, Galactica, whatever, and I adored Space Cowboys. But you cannot suspend disbelief to that degree. I couldn't even re-watch Armageddon drunk. Maybe if I tried pot, but I won't for this biig slimy turd of a movie.

That's why I've never seen it - I suspected it would be approximately that good.

And I love shit films. I've already watched two tonight!

That might be different. If You watch it in order to laugh about its shittiness, you'll get lots of it. It's a strain though. At some point it just gets very hard to still laugh.

Very true, and that's why I lov them. Some films are very shit and take themselves far too seriously though. Those are hard to laugh at, and watch. For example, The Son of Raw's The Roman, which I watched tonight, falls very much into that category. I guarantee it would be one of the worst films you've ever seen. It opens with landscape shots, fuzzy shots of people and long notes on strings (or synths, more likely). After about 8 minutes of that the opening credits start. Start! After about 10 minutes, there's some dialogue. In un-subtitled Latin. It kind of goes down hill from that point. Seriously, everybody should see it - what a pretentious pile of shite.

And sorry for the game derail.

Well, to each their own. I'm going to continue to love Armageddon regardless of all of your incorrect opinions.

Our next wonderful Science Fiction has an interior shot filmed here. It also shares a main star with the last winning film.

A Brit Sci Fi movie?

I was going to say no without a second thought, but then I thought maybe I should check. I was shocked to learn it was actually a French film.

Twelve Monkeys was a remake of a French film, so I'll guess that.

It's not a remake. And it's this film that is a French film.

I know one French SciFi film with Bruce Willis in it. So I'll guess The Fifth Element although I have no recollection of this location being used.

Correct!

It was the location used when "The Diva" gave her performance. It was only the interior that was shown.

Your go.

I have a hard time finding a good location, but I'll substitute it with this photo I came across tonight. It is from a movie, which is of no particular consequence here. It goes to show some remarkable actor's versatility

Who is the male actor on the right, and which role is he (arguably) most famous for in the English-speaking parts of the world?
