Surely there are some prescription pills that can be prescribed for non-pathological conditions? (such as valium, or is that not a prescription pill in Germany?)

Well if I had the choice between having the the 'power' to feel calm in the face of certain death by prescribing some dopey pills, or to be terrified shitless, I know what I would choose - especially if human technology has advanced to the point where we've invented the right pills for the job.
