Bill Gates is my hero...
In my hands I hold a candle whose flame is small to see, And if I give but one light to you my life is filled for me.
But...In your hands you hold a torch for many eyes to see, So hold it high that they may light their candlewicks from thee.

After my long career at the Federal Reserve, it is time for me to leave and spend more time with my wife, Andrea Mitchell.

Oh cool, someone else thought of George Burns. I feel vindicated. I was thinking that was too far off.

Surely you mean validated? I doubt they took out revenge on you or for you...

vin·di·cate Audio pronunciation of "vindicated" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (vnd-kt)
tr.v. vin·di·cat·ed, vin·di·cat·ing, vin·di·cates

1. To clear of accusation, blame, suspicion, or doubt with supporting arguments or proof: “Our society permits people to sue for libel so that they may vindicate their reputations” (Irving R. Kaufman).
2. To provide justification or support for: vindicate one's claim.
3. To justify or prove the worth of, especially in light of later developments.
4. To defend, maintain, or insist on the recognition of (one's rights, for example).
5. To exact revenge for; avenge.

I was thinking of definition #5. Apparently, the other definitions fall more in line with what you meant.

The more I know! GI Joe!

However, "Validated" would have also worked.

val·i·date Audio pronunciation of "validated" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (vl-dt)
tr.v. val·i·dat·ed, val·i·dat·ing, val·i·dates

1. To declare or make legally valid.
2. To mark with an indication of official sanction.
3. To establish the soundness of; corroborate. See Synonyms at confirm.

Definition #3 fits what I was thinking of, though #2 could been used in jest.
