Really? There's a k there? I took the opener of the Daily Show wid Jawn Stoor to be a fine representation, and I never seemed to discern a k. Must work on my ears, obviously.

It's not set in the US, but 'across the pond' as they say.
Spoken by one of the 'thugs' that the 'law' (main characters) are pursuing.

The opening shown here? I'll agree that's all "R" and little to no "K" but it isn't even close to a New York accent. That's the generic Mid-Western U.S. "no accent" accent.

Here's a New Yorker saying "New York", and also discussing the New York accent.

Great film.

As is this (probably very easy) one.....

If I were creating a world, I wouldn't mess about with butterflies and daffodils. I would have started with lasers, eight o'clock, day one!

Listen, I'm a politician which means I'm a cheat and a liar, and when I'm not kissing babies I'm stealing their lollipops. But it also means I keep my options open.

Definitely not a New York accent there, and it sounds to me like he tried to stretch out the "Yoooooorrrrrrrrk", and ran out of breath at the end.

If anything, I think the "k" is more pronounced in a New York accent than in other regional US accents.

There's some variation even within New York city.

I cannot think of any regional accent that drops the "k", but I don't know them all.

An overly-done western (cowboy) accent might, or at least sort of lose the 'k' to the next word.

This stuff's made in New York City!

Knew your city?!

Well, I thought I did, but what does that have to with picante sauce?
