Assassins round 5 signup thread

All the game threads. (It's only teenage wasteland.)

Postby Lance » Tue Nov 14, 2006 3:46 pm

I love the idea that this round is playing all over the board but I do have one request:

Please try to avoid derailing threads just to play assassins. If you play assassins in another game thread, at least try to keep what you're doing within the spirit of the game you're posting in. If you post in one of the (few) serious threads, please keep it appropriate to the thread.

Maybe you should bring back the chick with the machete for a while. ;)

Another thing: only counterassassination attempts posted in this thread will be considered valid.

Rule clarification: kill words inside a quote block still don't count, just like in previous rounds. Your target quoting you merely establishes that you're the one they responded to.

I so did not think this variant through well enough.

If you obviously used the board's quote button, then what's inside of it doesn't count as your words, so no - they're different. (If I were to be too permissive on this one we'd have posts like:

I wrote:Can't tell me to buzz off

...and that would be a cop out.)

So... it's been more than a semifortnight. Have the new security measures foiled all the would-be assassins?

We've gone more than 3 weeks without a successful kill, at least that anyone's reported to me. Admittedly, I've been lax on assigning new words. I'm wondering if making the game a board-wide thing was such a good idea after all.

If we stay the course, this could be a very long game... would everyone rather I post a play thread and revert to the usual rules?

I say we give it one more week and if there are no kills then we go back to a thread?
Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion....you must first set yourself on fire.

I like the boardwide, marathon game. Its like an endurance sport.
Of course, I haven't been stalking my target very closely, my target could very well have spewed a kill word. Maybe it is better to go into specific thread mode.

Exactly my problem. However, a sudden thought struck me...

Now it would be interesting to allow it in certain threads that only the hunters know about, different threads (mostly games) for different members...

Say Teri is hunting me, she has a list of Threads (WAG, Post about, exc...) that she can nail me in, but I don't know about it.

Anyone else think that could be an alternative?

I think you should lay down and relax for a little while.

What if I'm in this thread asking a question and I write my kill word, am I dead?

(If not, then IMO posts in this thread should not count as a legitimate post in the 72 hr time limit.)

Well if your word is "know" and someone asks you "Where were you last night?" and you respond with "Wouldn't you like to know?" then that would count as a kill.
