Reviewing old threads. MM Dandy, can you please explain to my poor feeble brain what "smack" means? I know it it is a term for hitting, or heroin. Neither seems appropriate in this context. :?

The context as provided by the Urban Dictionary (1) is pretty close to what I was thinking. It may not be commonly held, but I regard smack-talk and trash-talk to be equivalent.

Thanks, Lance and MM_Dandy. I guess you should have told me to go Google it. Sorry for being lazy.

Strangely enough...I have a story about cats and Christmas lights. When I was a teen, I had a cat named Scamper. She was a very cute, young, active tortoise-shell kitty and she was MY baby. My room was in the back of the house, my mom's was in the front. One night, my mom was woken by a noise in the dining-room (waking my mom is no mean feat!) She went into the dining-room to find Scamper had climbed up the tree, slipped, and was hanging by her throat wrapped up in Christmas lights! Fortunately, since she DID wake up, she saved the cat, and I was spared a gruesome and tragic discovery the next morning.

If any here do not know, tinsel can be deadly to kittens, puppies and even older animals. They eat it, it does not dissolve and can knot up their intestines, resulting in a painful death or expensive vet bill. The same goes for cassette tapes, etc.

Does not always do harm. I remember our wry laughter when our cat would have "tinsel bum" streamers. {Imagine what fun removing them was. First, catch the cat. Then remove the tinsel. Then remove the claws from your hand ... } Didn't realize what harm could happen until I heard stories of less fortunate animals.

Cassette tape (and presumably tinsel) can also cut their insides. I had a cat eat cassette tape and poop blood. I rushed her to the vet, and he checked her out and said she was okay, so presumably, it was just small cuts that didn't cause massive bleeding.

Nope, it's one of the main characters from True Romance, a film directed by Quentin Tarentino. :)

KLA2, I've seen Squee's avatar elsewhere long ago, so I don't think she made it. It is clever, though.

i know, it is very cute and I enjoy it. In this case I am sure it has been established that yI can use the word cute when refering to an animal, a living thing that is not human, or an inanimate objects.

TA, sorry to hear you are not well. Hope it is minor and passes (so to speak) quickly.

Nothing more annoying than taking a sick day you cannot enjoy because you are sick.

If it makes you feel any better, technically you'll never be able to post on that day again, since it's already past.

Does that make you feel any better?

It doesn't does it?

I'm really bad at this.

You're so wrong ... you have to be right.

"But sleep was hard to woo." Where is that line from? Shakespere? Some novel, I think. Can't remember, or readily Google it.

TA, I was not looking for birthday recognition, just making a bad joke. I was not even on this board last birthday. Wishing someone over the age of 21 happy birthday is kind of liking clapping for Tinkerbell ... well, I always do it.

I always clap for tinkerbell, wish people a happy birthday regardless of age, and all sorts of "happy" things. That's why I said what I did.

So I *hope* it was happy.
